Even if it's made up, they had to be better to work for than that tyrant, Henry Ford.

The Dodge brother's made their initial fortune as a supplier of rear axel components for the Ford Model T and for Oldsmobile.Their story is absolutely worthy of a motion picture. Horace was the innovative one. He developed the baking tunnel oven that allowed them to paint their cars with a high gloss enamel that had been a big production issue for the industry. They also led the industry in the move to all steel body construction among other innovative things. They produced their first car in late 1914 and were both dead by 1920. They were ambitious, smart and risk takers. John had a reputation for being a hot head when he was drunk. He was banned from several drinking establishments because of his behavior. There's a tremendous amount of factual material for some talented writers to make a great film.

I found a carcass of a Dodge wreck at the bottom of the ravine. It's been partially buried for decades after running off the road up hill. It's got a tachometer that says 1920 on it. It's an early Dodge roadster. No engine, just the frame and steering components and rusty shell. Still it's pretty damn cool

Those ads with Dodge Brothers are so great, really enjoyable. However it is sad to watch them in crazy times when joy from ride would soon become "socially & environmentally irresponsible" if not crime... (Last) Time for me to think about 392?

This series of ads are easily some of the best I've ever seen- and I'd never buy a Dodge. I wonder how the folks who worked on these commercials truthfully feel about the company today. "Dodge" (and Chrysler) to me, just appear as this directionless "we don't really know where we're going" collective, only still around thanks to Jeep and to a lesser extent, Ram and presently hanging off the same vine as Opal, Vauxhall, Peugeot, etc, trying to survive.
