Gandhiji used Ahimsa as a weapon to freed India. So, what is Ahimsa? Ahimsa is derived from the Sanskrit verb root san, which means to kill. The form hims means “desirous to kill“; the prefix a- is a negation. So a-himsa means literally “lacking any desire to kill”. Gandhi teaches that the one who possesses nonviolence is blessed. Blessed is the man who can perceive the law of ahimsa (nonviolence) in the midst of the raging fire of himsa all around him.

Good question.. what's wrong is when people are afraid to stand up and fight for what is right. If there is no solution through non-violence, then Dharma must be established through other means. And Dharma means righteousness and not religion. Here in India when some people with an "agenda" protest they're burning public property that's produced with taxpayers' money. So such people cannot be dealt with with non-violence. Hope you understand.. What happened with Kashmiri pandits back in 1990 cannot be dealt with in a nonviolent way.. what may still be happening with some marginalized sections cannot be dealt with in a nonviolent way.. and yes proper laws must be brought in. Hope you understand now

I lived as a vaisnava monk for many years and was taught this simple rule regarding Ahimsa. As a father, if a stranger breaks into your house and attempts to harm your family what is the least disturbing action in this scenario of suffering? The answer is to disable the attacker in whatever way you are able. If I choose to do nothing in the misguided belief that I should choose non-violence, then I have allowed the attacker to commit atrocity upon my loved ones...the ones who saw me as their loving protector. I must choose violence against the attacker to lesson the violence upon my wife and children. This is Ahimsa. The material world is a place of suffering and disturbance, the utmost path through this existence is found by always choosing the "least" disturbing option. Ahimsa paramo dharma. At every life junction, choose Ahimsa. You will eventually receive the mercy of our Paramatma. Namaste and gentle fortune. ❤
