So some context to this video: Ahmed Mekky grew up in a broken home with his parents divorcing when he was young. His mother primarily raised him and his siblings, and his father wasn't really present in his life during his youth and adolescence. And he has said in interviews that it was a pretty volatile household up until the divorce, and hardship after the divorce. He never really had that fatherly guidance to help him navigate through life. A few years ago he had gotten really ill with Epstein Barr Virus that was initially misdiagnosed, by the time he was diagnosed properly he had one foot in the grave. It took him out for nearly a year. He said it put him in a coma like state sleeping 18-20 hours a day, not able to stand, move or even take a sip of water. He learned a lot from that. A strong man in his prime can in an instant be made weak and feeble if God so wills. When he finally got better and after reflecting on all the things he did take for granted, like drinking a sip of water.. He thanked god for that lesson and said the illness made him pause and reevaluate his life and the direction he was going. It also showed him who was there for him when the chips were down and who was only there for him when he was riding high. This lead him to write this song for his son as a will, and not just for him, but to all children who grow up without a father. He is also divorced from the mother of his child (his son is in the video), and he didn't want history to repeat itself. So he decided to pave a different path with how he raised his son and being present for him and getting a long with his ex wife, and giving him what he wished he would have had from his own father. And so the culmination of all of that is what he refers to as a will to my son of how to be as a man, and how to react when the world is against you, and to always know if you mess up God is the most forgiving and its never too late to turn to him. And the beautiful part when he says that he hopes his son will be there with him as he ages and becomes slow in movement and speech or if his mind forgets, to be patient, and repeat himself as he used to repeat stories to him when he was a baby. And when he says, I was there the day you were born, I want you there with me the day I die.. that line always gets me. It's a beautiful track and video with a beautiful backstory that I thought I'd share.

If you do not react to Ahmed Mekky’s song, وقفة ناصية زمانThe Corner of a Pause in the Past. You should listen to it.. Some jazz music in the background gives the song a special elegance

love your reactions, well rounded from melody to visual and lyrics going beyond to the meaning behind the words, one small addition, the verse "Your existance is enough to guarantee cetainty" is a bit lacking in translation in my opinion, "certanty" in arabic is used as a synonym of "Death" as every living being is "Certain" they will die at the end. So if we re-phrased the verse on the light of this meaning, it would be something alng the lines of "Your existance near me, is enough till I meat death"

You assume and you are very rude! Not sure why I am bothering to respond to ignorance. Why can’t I react to Arab music. Is that all I react to on my channel? No I am a foreign music reaction channel 🙃 I like World music and I have a liking for Arabic music and culture. Many people from around the world listens to and also reacts to UK and USA music 🎶 many actually do not understand how is this different? You should be proud that the music is loved worldwide and is being shared and appreciated. Maybe get to understand someone by actually watching more content from them checking their socials rather than writing ignorant comments. Stop being stupid. Have a blessed day 🥰🖤
