They had 0-3 record with Ou Liu before this match and trailing 13-18 in the last set. Somehow, they managed to win. AE 2023 was my favorite ever. Eventhough they couldn't get the title, but Daddies are literally screaming to others "Hey I am still here". I hope before they both retired, they got to stand on the highest podium, does not have to be anything fancy like Olympics or World Champ. I just want to see they get the gold medal. Hopefully I can still witness it.

Thanks for the comment. I can feel your love and passion for badminton and the Ahsan/Hendra pair. I love them too. I only hope they can stay healthy, and anything is possible! Let’s wait and see!🫶🫶

it's all about placement and building the rally. Honestly the daddies really understand the faster they hit the faster it comes back. They also excel at turning defense into offense and they absolutely can still kill it in flat game. This is why they have such longevity in their career they really have adapted and honed their skills in different ways. Hendra is still on another level when reading the game, he occasionally makes some mistakes but some of his shots are just god like.
@Original_Badminton

Absolutely agree. Both Hendra and Ahsan are very aware, at this age, of their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their opponents'. To exploit their own strengths, mitigate their weaknesses, limit the opponent's advantages, and attack their vulnerabilities requires a profound understanding of badminton, superior skills, a clear mind, and excellent emotional control. The daddies were doing very well!!!🫶

Very nice angle. We can learn a lot from the quality of those shots from elite players. Two things worth noticing: Ou's smashes, although carries good speed, is not as steep as those from Ahsan; his drives also tend to become higher and higher as the the rally goes on. That, might be the tipping point of the match.

You are right, the Indonesian pair has better drive than the chinese pair. In 1 word, they won via "angle", instead of speed or power.

when Ahsan is at backcourt. Try to guess if it is going to be a dropshot or half smash. The initial movement is the smash but the power output is different 😂.
@Original_Badminton

Indeed, an excellent observation. Their actions are consistent, making it difficult for opponents to predict, while also conserving energy. Drop shots and half-smashes can appropriately slow down the pace, allowing them to get into their preferred rhythm and negating the advantage of younger players who thrive on a faster pace.

Sorry, but the title of the video doesn't seem right.. most of the winners were still set up by a big smash from the back court, granted the pair have excellent ball placement and defense.
@Original_Badminton
@Original_Badminton Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comments. Yes, maintaining an attacking posture by employing samshes is very important. When I mention a big smash, I'm primarily referring to a two-feet jump smash. They tend to use two-feet jump smash less frequently compared to many younger players. However, it doesn't mean that they completely avoid using a two-feet jump smash or they are not good at jump smashes. They smartly choose different smash techniques based on the specific situation rather than relying solely on two feet heavy smash.
