Qui Gon was a rebel within the order. Obi-Wan was barely considered force sensitive enough to get accepted. Anakin was not originally going to be accepted into the order because of his emotional attachments and sadness. Ahsoka was a rebel within the order and eventually left. If anyone should be training Sabine it is Ahsoka.

Though it does irritate me the way Ashoka seems dogmatic in following Jedi norms, despite literally leaving the order and being a rebel, she keeps being called a ‘Jedi knight’, though barring Luke she appears the most competent Jedi trained force wielded in the galaxy now

“Zatochi” seems to be an homage to the Japanese blind samurai fighter Zatoichi. Although blind, Zatoichi was practically invincible. It’s a well known series in Japan and has been made into some films too. I believe some are posted here on YT.

You can drop "seems". It is an obvious referense. Also there is a US made movie Blind Fury with Rutger Hauer in the main role. Also a character named Stick in Marvel Daredevil and Defenders. And Kanan Jarrus as well. They all came from the same source material.

I do wish that they made more direct references to Kanan, whether him initially struggling to train Ezra because of his own anxiety and lack of training, as well as clashing due to their tempers and egos, or Kanan fighting while blind like Sabine was being trained to. Though Jacen wanting to be a Jedi is a more subtle reference to wanting to imitate his father, though it doesn’t create the same feeling as people who knew Kanan talking about him. I wonder who would go on to train Jacen.

Zatochi is a long running series of films and television in japan that details the exploits of a blind swordsman. They are classics, the same actor played zatoichi in all but the modern film.

That politician that we are lead to dislike (Xiono), is Kazuto's (the lead from Star Wars: Resistance) dad. I don't recall if he ever said anything about his parents being bad or making bad decisions, that lead to the downfall of the New Republic. Obviously, his dad is making a wrong decision here. Though to be honest, Hera should have mentioned that she was tracking the hyperdrives. That is a legitimate reason she should have given, for needing a fleet.

7:12 - I've mentioned it elsewhere, but those of us who are first-generation Star Wars fans understood throughout the Original Trilogy that Jedi could be created from anyone, as long as the correct training was applied. I remember kids everywhere dreaming of becoming Jedi. Therefore, we were shocked when Lucas introduced midichlorians with the Prequel Trilogy. Suddenly, only those with midichlorian concentrations could become Jedi. This did not go well with many. Here we have Dave Filoni writing a different school of thought. Luke is establishing a traditional Jedi school, but Ahsoka has decided to train someone with an "ordinary" connection to the Force. I feel Filoni is trying to mend that old wound by making this "new" school of thought similar to what the original viewers of Star Wars believed: anyone could learn to tap the Force, though those with high concentrations of midichlorians would do it better.

Don't jump on the bandwagon, Marrok is gonna just be Marrok. Almost all of the theories about it being certain characters are wildly speculative and don't really have much evidence supporting them... but I will concede that they could make him a clone of someone we know if they adapt certain plot points from Heir to the Empire and have to have a twist with his character.

Hey, Emme! The episode was way too short but an awesome entry! MON MOTHMA appearance by GENEVIEVE O'REILLY as the Chancellor of the New Republic now. Her homeworld, CHANDRILA, is now the galactic capital. SENATOR XIONO, played by Nelson Lee, is the father of Kaz Xiono, the protagonist of the animated "Star Wars: Resistance". The Senator dies when the Ilum-converted Starkiller Base destroys Hosnian Prime in "Force Awakens". JACEN SYNDULLA, played by EVAN WHITTEN, shows up with the ridiculous green hair we saw in the cartoon. SMH. Kid's cute, though. MARROK speaks! Love the Ahsoka spacewalk! No Mary Poppins nonsense! I like how her helmet is custom-made for Togruta montrals and lekku. Reminiscent of Plo Koon fighting in vacuum without a suit in the 'Malevolence' trilogy and other space-suited firefights in "Clone Wars" and "Rebels". Live-action PURRGILL! DAVID TENNANT killed it with the wisecracks! The term for blind sparring was ZATOCHI. This is Filoni's tribute to ZATOICHI, THE BLIND SWORDSMAN who is a popular character of Japanese cinema. In LEGENDS, Jacen was the name of Han Solo's son. He had a sister named Jaina. Of course, in Disney canon we have Ben Solo. The original "Heir to the Empire" story by Timothy Zahn, there was a Bothan leader named BORSK FEY'LA. Bothans are mammalian aliens that look like shaggy horse-heads. He served the function of Senator Xiono in that he underplayed all threatening signs out of resentment towards Jedi, the military and humans. He doesn't believe in the danger of Thrawn or the existence of the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong prior to their invasion later. I don't mind if Sabine's senses get sharpened through her training to Daredevil-level but her Force-sensitivity is negligible so I don't want her to suddenly exhibit telekinesis! I think Ahsoka's expectations are unrealistic and she's basically forcing Sabine to beat her head bloody against a wall. She shouldn't be encouraging her to move objects with her mind but to heighten her sensory acuity. Ahsoka should focus on Jacen instead. Huyang's right!

I think the senator might have a point (from his point of view) at 5:45. It's been around ten years since Ezra disappeared and we don't know how often Hera asked for money to look for him unsuccessfully. The New Republic probably has lots of stuff to do and not enough money to do it. If Hera had explained the problem differently, emphasizing that this Morgan person escaped from captivity with the help of two dangerous force wielders with light sabers and is now putting together something potentially dangerous with the stuff she stole from the ship yard, it would have been clear that there's a threat right now that needs to be dealt with. Instead she insulted one of the people she wants money from, which is satisfying to watch, but strategically not clever.

No. How would Ezra have escaped another entire galaxy without Thrawn only to turn evil and work for the people trying to find where Thrawn is? It makes zero sense.

Is it hypothetically possible? Yes. Likely? I doubt it. If he was transported to another galaxy with Thrawn, how he would get back and turn against the Rebels he fought with and who were like family. Could there be some kind of uneasy alliance between Thrawn and Ezra in that other galaxy? Also possible but maybe not likely. How can the night sister hear Thrawn calling from another galaxy if he isn’t force sensitive? Could it be Ezra calling out, or potentially amplifying Thrawn in an Echo like situation? It’s hard to tell which way they’re going with it

I’m so excited with anticipation for every episode too. We were watching it in real time at the same time. It’s probably not fashionable but I really like the Shin Hati character, I hope that her light saber turns from orange to yellow eventually. Seeing Ray Stevenson makes me sad knowing that he’s no longer with us, he was so good in Black Sails. Huyang is like C3-PO’s cooler older brother. He’s and R2/D2 are neck and neck for my favorite droids. I’m looking forward to seeing Sabine’s training arc too. She needs to win the next duel with Shin Hati. We go from 1 Jedi/Mandalorian in history to potentially 2 more with Sabine and Grogu. And MandoJedis are much cooler than regular, run of the mill Jedis. I’m excited to see 1x4 and then doubly excited to see your reaction video afterwards. ❤

@@chrisherber1635 I have been thinking about the way they have shown the New Republic and after reading Bloodline, it really goes into the issues in the government, I think they are trying to show a New Republic in a way like the German Weimar Republic of the interwar period. Still too embedded with the old regime and unable to really make changes that work. The difficulty here is the combination of the perception of the Legends New Republic verses what the Disney Sequels need them to be. To be fair the New Republic of the books were also kind of dense. They just did not blindly hire former imperials.

Not a great space chase: I appreciate that Ahsoka going onto the wing is cool in theory but it just makes the ‘not siths’ chasing her seem so inept! The T6 is a sitting duck but they all miss?? And Ahsoka, instead of deflecting blasts from a distance, manages to hit one with her lightsaber? So they can fly close enough to be hit but can’t hit the target?!

The New Republic = Hubris. I would have thought Jacen would have more attributes from his mother's DNA instead of being so "human". Ahsoka's version of what will make up the future of the Jedi is totally different from the old ways..and possibly Luke's. She may take on students with limited attachment to the force.

My impression is that it is like Athletes everyone can play with practice but not everyone is going to be at the top 0.01% that make a professional league to be the next all star. Which is why the Jedi order was so selective they were only looking for all stars. The way Ahsoka specifically describes "talent" makes me think she is referring to a high Midi-chlorian count.
