This doesn't contradict the Midichlorians. It just means higher counts have more talent while lower counts require more discipline. But everyone in Star Wars has Midichlorians, therefore everyone can potentially use the Force.

I have been pointing out that in the Legends continuity it was said Master Kenobi himself only just above threshold. Meaning he didn't have the natural power of his Padawan. But his devotion to training allowed him to go blade to blade with potentially the most powerful force user in Jedi history. This is also why Anakin wasn't near as powerful as he could have been given that with his natural aptitude he was able to excel quickly but he didn't fully apply himself. It wasn't until after his injuries sustained on Mustafar that he started studiously training himself. And this is why he was such a beast in Kenobi, in Rebels and in Rogue One.

Here in our universe, where the Force doesn't even exist, there are martial arts masters who are able to do exactly what Ahsoka was training Sabine to do. They can sense an enemy's intent, anticipate their moves and even fight blind. Ahsoka isn't necessarily teaching Sabine to become a Jedi but simply the best fighter that she can be.

Senator Xiono (the guy on the right of Mon Mothma) is the father of the main character from the animated show Star Wars Resistance, which takes place at the time of the sequel trilogy. He actually made a small appearance in the show and talked to his son in a hologram transmission, so that's another character to add to the ever-growing list of characters who've made the jump from canon animation to canon live action. In order of appearance I believe we have Saw Gerrera, Chopper, Bo Katan Kryze, Ahsoka Tano, Cad Bane, the Grand Inquisitor, the 5th Brother, Zeb Orrelios, Huyang, Hera Syndulla, Ryder Azadi, Jai Kell, Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger (via hologram), Senator Xiono, and Jaycen Syndulla. (It's noteworthy that half of these characters are in this category courtesy of the Ahsoka series, and we haven't even officially gotten to characters like Thrawn yet who we know from the trailers are coming.) Plus there are some honorable mentions such as the dead body of Terra Sinube in Obi Wan Kenobi, the jedi voices in Rise of Skywalker (like that of Kanan Jarrus), and Hondo Ohnaka at Disney's Galaxy's Edge. Feel free to comment anyone who I've missed!

7:40... That is correct. Lucas said that back in the 80's. If they spend enough time with it, they can do it. I think where the Midi-chlorian count comes into play is the "talent" aspect Ahsoka mentioned. You won't need to spend as much time with learning it to grasp it if you are powerful enough with the force.

If you think back to the training with the Dark Saber it was basically learning to open yourself up to The Force on a basic level. I don't think it's like everyone can use the Force to the extent that they are a Skywalker, but I think it'll be like some low level pull/push and just slightly elevated physical abilities. A little more strength, speed, and agility

Hey primate love the reaction, hope i can help clarify possibly. The force does in fact reside in every living thing and is possible to be learned by anybody. The midiclorians as explained by George Lucas are more like your receptors to the force, more midiclorians such as Anakin prove a stronger way to channel and interact with the force, but this does not mean that someone with just a few receptors (midiclorians) is incapable of possessing the force. Obi-wan Kenobi famously was a being with low midiclorian counts but (as you can tell by his character) he is a severally disciplined jedi, and used that to better his connection to the force. Sabine is not close to obiwan also as said by Huyang, but just see how POWERFUL Master Kenobi is with his famously low amount of midiclorians, its exactly the thing im talking about, power in the force does not equate to your midiclorians only. Sabine might be able to tune herself with lots of training from Ahsoka (someone whos been trained by anakin and spent years i assume being more enlightened) and use more small abilities, not like force grab and pull maybe but the "feel the force, luke" type things where she can begin to anticipate the universe around her just enhancing her fighting to be more compatible with the dark jedi duo. possibly :) hope this helped

A bit of Mandalorian trivia (skip if you don't feel like a brief read): According to The Clone Wars animated series, the Mandalorians have been going toe-to-toe with Jedi since Mandalore the Great led an army of Mandalorians against the Jedi (and the Republic) at a time when House Vizla claimed the Darksaber - a lightsaber created specifically for Tarre Vizla, the first Mandalorian inducted into the Jedi Order - after his passing (as far as I know, much of the Mandalorian lore from the KOTOR games was relegated to the mere "Legends" category, and isn't exactly cannon... at least for now; Thrawn was in the same category before Rebels). The war led to the destruction of the surface of Mandalore, forcing the survivors to live in domed cities, while their nearest moon, Concordia, was strip-mined so severely that it's forests had not started to grow back until the time of The Clone Wars. A pacifist movement followed the Jedi war, leading to generations of fragmentation and in-fighting amongst the surviving Mandalorian clans, which made it possible for Darth Maul to manipulate the Death Watch clan and cause all kinds of cool Filoniverse intrigue during the Clone Wars series. The point of all that being that Mandalorian armor was created SPECIFICALLY to fight Jedi, and I personally think that Dave Filoni, rather than creating yet another "standard" Jedi character to join the ranks of Annakin, Obi-Wan, Luke, Kyle Katarn, Ahsoka Tano, Kanan Jarrus, Cal Kestis, etc., wisely thought, why not have a Jedi with no connection to the force for a change? And why not explore that through Sabine, whose heritage as a Mandalorian can eventually give her the augemented battle armor that will allow her to go toe-to-toe with Skoll, Hati, and Marok? He might even be trying to build a story (or feature film) where Sabine, Mando, and the Mandalorians end up fighting with the remaining Jedi (Ahsoka, Luke, Cal Kestis?) against Thrawn and the Imperial Remnants, whose survivors will eventually form the First Order from the sequel trilogy. As for midichlorians and only "special" people being able to wield the force, I think this is Lucasfilm's way of saying, ANYBODY can potentially do it, the way ANYBODY can learn to play basketball, but some are going to have innate, natural advantages - like physical height - over everyone else. There are people in wheelchairs who play basketball. But even height won't matter if a tall guy never trains, going up against a short guy who plays/trains 8 hours a day. The little guy would wipe the floor with him. That's why Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen) from Rogue One was skilled in martial arts, and had SOME connection to the force, but wasn't an actual Jedi. He was part of a separate priesthood that guarded the Kyber Templer prior to the Empire's takeover of Jedha. I think Sabine will be the first Star Wars "Jedi" character other than Chirrut to have only a limited connection to the Force. But after seeing Han fly through the asteroid field in Empire, one has to wonder if his "natural luck" was actually a real connection to the Force, or if it was just his "luck" that he was flying with Leia at the time. After watching Solo, I'd lean towards Han having a "natural" connection to the Force of the kind that pretty much everybody has (at least from time to time) if you practice hard at something, like piloting. Sorry for all the words, lol, but I'm a geek for this stuff.

The Force resides in all living things bit-- I sort of think about it like being an artist. Everyone can draw. Some people have a natural talent/skill and start way ahead of others. Others start off barely being able to draw and really have to work towards being a "good" artist. But the skill level will never be the same. So I feel like "Force sensitives" are who the Jedi and Sith inherently seek out, since it's easier to train them (and even then, some Jedi don't make the cut and get sent to the Service Corps of the Order). Just something to think about!

Force sensitivenes means at the prequel area that those ones have more potential, so easier to train. But even Wattoo could be a jedi but even training like 30 years maybe he would be able to only tremble a cup a bit. Its like you can learn to play the guitar but only a few will become rock stars

Not as good as the first two episodes IMO but I did enjoy the space battle and seeing the purgill again! Also, David Tennant is killing it as Huyang (no surprise, he already won an Emmy for playing the part in Clone Wars). The shape and size of the hyperspace ring in addition to its intended destination outside the Galaxy reminds me of the Outbound Flight project, a recurring plot point in the original books featuring Thrawn. Outbound Flight was a Jedi led expedition to look for life/civilizations outside the Galaxy. The expedition’s “ship” was 6 big ships connected to each other by a large ring structure. In the books, Palpatine’s first meeting with Thrawn had him convince Thrawn of the need to destroy the expedition due to their shared fear that the expedition would blunder into a hostile enemy from beyond the Galaxy (known as the Yuuzhan Vong) and lead to an invasion (which the Vong did do in a later book series). Thrawn did stop the expedition, killing the Jedi and most of the crew, although he did try to resolve things peacefully at first. So while there are differences between Ahsoka’s hyperspace ring and Outbound Flight, I think the similarities and connections to the Thrawn books are neat. Plus, the trip outside the Galaxy could be Dave Filoni's way of leaving a door open for the Vong (or a similar enemy from another Galaxy with the same story function) appearing in future shows/films.

So with my thinking, going off of George Lucas’s lore and past explanations, everyone is force sensitive and midichlorines are microscopic life forms found in all living things that give Jedi their powers. Taking that information I assume that everyone and anything living, has midichlorines therefore is force sensitive, but it’s about training and discipline. Fun Fact: Obi-Wan was found as a child and taken into the Jedi order (Obi Wan mentions this in the kenobi show, he might have had a baby brother but he can’t remember because he was so young) he was clearly force sensitive so he was taken to the temple to be tested. His midichlorine count was extremely low, probably way higher than Sabine’s but still low for almost all Jedi. But after 15-20 years of training as a youngling and being trained by Qui Gon, Obi Wan became one of the strongest Jedi ever. Low m count + training was still great which is why I hope Sabine can maybe harness parts of the force maybe not control it as she has the lowest ability of the force ever seen according to Huyang, maybe she can still do something. That’s like the low side of the spectrum, then on the high end you see Anakin who had an extremely high midichlorine count and had half of the training Obi wan had and became one of if not the most powerful Jedi of all time till he lost about half of his body and was burnt losing lots of midichlorines but his hatred still made him powerful. The Star Wars lore continues to become the greatest thing I’ve ever seen

Just because Sabine was a badass doesn’t mean she can handle Dark Jedi, no offense. If Sabine wanted any chance of clashing equally with Shin she had to embrace the ways of the Force. I know there’s this big trope of Mandalorians can handle Jedi and the like with all the tools at their disposal, but if we learned anything from Pre Vizla vs Maul it’s that sometimes you can’t succeed against a powerful opponent no matter your tools or preparation.

Most of the New Republic was just that ignorant. They were so confident that the Empire was completely gone, that they had definitively won. Leia forming the Resistance was kind of illegal or something because the New Republic was trying to get friendly with the First Order when it first showed up. They just wanted to keep the peace and not start a conflict even though Leia and so many others saw the signs that the First Order wasn't as innocent as they were playing to be. But they were all waved away by the government because they were just willfully ignorant of more conflict

Everyone is feeling weird about giving Sabine force powers, but I'm not so sure that's what's happening. To me, the line 'I don't need her to be a Jedi, I need her to be herself' is the important one. Being a Jedi is more than just having cool telekinesis powers, its an ideology based on real world Eastern traditions of peace and enlightenment. Sabine is in alot of emotional turmoil right now. She's a mandalorian, who doesn't feel at home with her family clan, her Rebel family is broken up and scattered in a post war-world, she's got survivors guilt with Ezra being gone, and she's been rejected by Ashoka as a former mentor. Put simply, Sabine isn't thinking clearly, she's lost and dosn't know what to do with herself. That would be fine, she's an experienced Mandalorian and rebel fighter, but they're fighting powerful Force users. Someone with conflict in their mind is easy prey, no matter how much combat experience they have. Ashoka isn't teaching her how to use the force, its how to clear her mind, to think clearly. Do that, and the rest of her Mandalorian training will put her on even footing with our foes this season. In short, I don't think she'll be using the Force in the show. At most, she might make her lightsaber jump a foot or two into her hand, but even that is a stretch. She just needs to be good enough that the next time she fights against Shin Hati, her emotions won't put her off balance.

When Disney uses a controversial/lazy trope (force healing, surviving light saber stabs, and I'm sure there are others) it feels like they either try to introduce it with a fan favorite (Grogu force healing the week before Rise of Skywalker came out) or double down with a fan favorite doing it after fans react poorly to the first instance (Sabine being stabbed and living after Reva did). So many show runners are relying heavily on follow-up content to do damage control and fill in legitimate plot holes.

I think it's easy to forget that the Senator who questioned Hera didn't see the trailer. We as the audience know Thrawn is back, but from the Senate's perspective it would seem far-fetched. I'd do the same thing if I were them. Patient goes to a doctor with a stomach ache, they wouldn't assume it's cancer y'know?

Too short! A third of the run time was previously on and credits! And I love Hera’s eyes but wish the pattern on her Lekku was more pronounced. Edit: I think a Purrgil may go in the ring.

Any one can use the force Primate. George Lucas himself said so. Does it mean that she will be actual Jedi level no 😂not at all but any living sentient person in Star Wars has some amount of force abilities however small they can use.

Sup, Primate! How are you doing, man? Good, I hope! 5:20 - While I don't trust this asshole... I also think he's a "misdirection" in who we should really do wary of. Star Wars tries this a lot.... 7:30 - Primate, buddy..... George Lucas had us ALL believing we could be Jedi back in 1977..... so this isn't new. It's about how dedicated you are, and how willing you are to train, as well as your natural gifts. Yes, your M-Count being high helps, but also remember what Ahsoka said to Mando.... "Better to not train [Grogu] and let his powers fade." Meaning that even as powerful as he is with The Force, he can still allow his abilities "go away" if he doesn't train to use them. 9:20 - A better analogy would be "Best way to learn how to swim is being Thrawn ..... errr... thrown into the deep end of a pool." (Not sorry. Couldn't resist that joke)

But I've been watching you for years the show is about to get even better .. It's how dave Filoni works The later half of seasons are always the best.. And I think it's been pretty good so far this one gets a solid 9 out of 10 Just too short .. I think he did the stab in the stomach as a middle finger like I can do whatever I want😂😂😂

I saw a quote someone posted from George Lucas when this episode dropped, and even George himself said that it was a common misconception that the Force was a special ability you can only be born with. So Ahsoka’s explanation and conversation with Huyang actually gave a more precise and accurate version of what Obi-wan explained to Luke in A New Hope. Anyone can tap into the Force, this explains why Chirrut Îmwe from Rogue One can use it to see even though he can’t use it to move objects or anything and explains why Kanan said that Sabine had just closed herself off from the Force but can open herself up to it in Rebels.

I’m sorry Primate, I get where you’re coming from, but it’s been established for a long time that the force resides in all living beings in the SW universe. I don’t think this means “anyone can do it”. It takes an immense amount of training, discipline, and innate skill to wield the force like a Jedi. That hasn’t changed

Don’t forget that Sabine was a mechanical genius at a very young age the same as Anakin. The force is interwoven with your natural talents.

I don’t wanna judge the serious too harshly when only half of it has come out… but I can’t be the only one who kind of hates how they not only made Sabine a Jedi-in-training, but also how they did it offscreen during the 10 year timeskip between Rebels and Ahsoka. Everything about that just feels kinda weird to me Other than that, this episode was definitely a step up in my opinion from the first two. Hope that pattern continues going forward

Yes like it was in the very start, with enough dedication and practice anyone can use the force. That’s how it used to be before the whole Midi-chlorian count thing came about and upset a whole generation of Star Wars fans. They literally brought back the old magic we felt as kids growing up watching the original trilogy. I absolutely love this fact.

7:24 that’s literally what George Lucas said over and over again in interviews! Everyone could use the force, but not everyone has the same amount of talent. Anakin or Yoda for example could use the force pretty easy, almost intuitively whereas Obi-Wan had to work much harder and be more disciplined to make progress

I don't think I'll ever accept these space whales. It feels too ridiculous to be in star wars lore. I know feloni loves his animals, but not a fan of the owls, wolves and earth like animals being brought into the SW universe. I'm okay if these animals were more unique or creative like a taun taun. Overall, I'm liking the show but hoping for longer episodes. This one was 10 minutes too short. Even having scenes of just talking won't add much more to the budget.

Dude, slow down and let the story play out. Dave understands the force better than all of us. He was after all apprentice to the most powerful force user in history. It's a thin line to walk introducing new powers, story lines ect ect while still respecting and honoring what we love about the past. But Dave has been well trained and I trust him. Not saying everyone will like everything. Never have and never will. But his love and respect for George and Star Wars will guide him. Just my opinion.

Midichlorians do not dictate how powerful in force you are. Your power in the force dictated your midichlorians. They are attracted to the power. Midichlorians don’t make someone powerful. Also it’s not as if Ashoka is trying to remake the prequel trilogy jedi order. We have to come to an understanding that after order 66 the Jedi Order ended and thus the definition of Jedi is essentially lost. Whatever Ashoka calling a Jedi now we have to assume is different in definition.

midichlorians is such a lame explanation for someone’s aptitude for the force and i’m glad this show is slightly retconning that whole idea and returning to the original trilogy’s philosophy of the force. everyone has it but not everyone has the discipline to master it 🔥

I don't know, some things just aren't sitting right with me. Aside from David Tennant and in this episode Genevieve O'reilly, who are always great, the acting just isn't impressing me, especially from Ahsoka and Hera, they're delivery is just so flat and lacking any of the personality Ashley and Venessa (the voice actors) brought to the characters. The space battle started out fine, but after a while, just seeing them get shot at constantly and maybe like 3 out of 10,000 shots actually hit its mark just sucked out any tension or excitement. I don't know why Sabine has to become to force user, it's not necessary, and we already had a training episode for Sabine in Rebels, which was far better in every way. I really hate being this negative, but I'm just so bummed out so far. I'm hoping the show might pick up soon, or maybe we'll get appearances from other Rebels characters, obviously I'm excited to see Thrawn, and I want to know more about Baylan.

I feel like that's the point of this show, though. Why can't anyone wield the Force? I know Star Wars has the whole midichlorian nonsense but I feel like they are backing away from that. They mention over and over that Sabine isn't good enough by the Jedi standards, but maybe the Jedi were wrong (Ahsoka has her problems with the order as we know). If the Force is a bit like Buddhism as Lucas mostly based it on, then couldn't anyone with enough commitment and patience and willpower achieve enlightenment? Fans put way too much stock in lineage for Force wielders, that's how we got in that Rey's parents mess. I'm loving the idea that while talent is a factor in becoming a force wielder (or a natural bender like Aang and Azula), someone who tries hard enough can also achieve greatness (Katara and Zuko).

It’s kind of crazy to me that the fanbase has strayed so far from the opinions that were widely accepted when the Prequels were coming out. Midichlorians were a decision people HATED when they were introduced, and a large part of that was because it not only limited the mystique of the Force and made it more sci-fi than fantasy, but it locks people into Force users and non-users and limits their potential to an arbitrary number. The original trilogy never made a distinction or denied the notion that anyone could learn, only mentioning that sometimes people or even their families had a strong affinity and talent for it. But I feel it was very much implied that anybody, with enough training and perseverance, could achieve results. They just didn’t because they either weren’t interested or didn’t have the qualities befitting a Jedi. I think Lucas even once used the example that Watto could’ve been a Jedi with the right mindset and discipline. Han Solo could’ve been a Jedi if he really wanted to pursue that avenue. If anything Filoni seems to be bringing the Force back to its roots here, showing that it’s not so much about the microscopic organisms living in your bloodstream. Even still, Sabine has shown barely any results as of yet. Her (minimal) success with the blinding helmet training could very easily be chalked up to good combat skills and excellent hearing, and she couldn’t even move a cup across a table despite focusing ridiculously hard. People are getting in an uproar over nothing.

This view of how anyone can potentially wield the force comes straight from George Lucas. Luke Skywalker puts in best in a recent comic...something to the effect of "You may feel the force as a trickle or as a river, but with training and openness anyone can harness it."
