@shoeman69664 жыл бұрын
Kung Olaf yes but there were many greedy politicians, and the Jedi didn’t sense the dark side around them as they did with palpatine in ROTS. Besides, the Jedi likely knew from the report on krell that krell believed the republic would collapse from the inside. Given the knowledge that the Jedi had that darth sidious has control of hundreds of senators, and that the republic will collapse from the inside, and that the dark side of the force surrounds the chancellor, and that sidious has controlled both sides of the war from the beginning, and that dooku likely has a dark side master, wouldn’t a reasonable person say that it’s a good guess to say the Sith Lord is palpatine. I understand the Jedi would be in deep shit if they were wrong about palpatine, but maybe was it worth the risk? That’s not for me to decide. You could also argue that the Jedi were blinded by the dark side veil, making their ability to see the future blurred, and that the Sith shrine under the Jedi temple helped blind them as wells. I mean, that’s fine, and it probably played a role, but....c’mon. Yoda, windu, obi wan, plo koon; they weren’t dumb. They had way too much information to not realize palpatine was the Sith Lord until it was too late. I’m sort of arguing both sides now, but the Jedi also grew arrogant and assumed the Sith were extinguished. Yoda, windu, and Obi-Wan were probably the most arrogant of all of them. The Jedi’s arrogance also led to their downfall.

Some argue that Ahsoka is partially to blame for Anakin's fall, since she didn't try to convey the message, but at the same time, had Mace told her about their suspicions regarding Palpatine, she might have decided to trust the Council after all and tell them what Maul had said, leading them to reach the necessary conclusion. It's not even literal blame as it is (that honour goes to Palpatine himself), it just boils down to the lack of trust and everyone being suspicious of one another that led to the downfall of the Jedi and the Republic. Windu didn't trust Anakin nor Ahsoka, Ahsoka had her misgivings about the Order and she wanted to believe in Anakin just like he believed in her back in Season 5, so she couldn't trust Maul as far as she could throw him. Anakin felt abandoned by everyone he loved, and by the Order he served, and with the risk of losing Padme (who worked behind his back on the Delegation 2000) and Palpatine's schemes... it's a recipe for a perfect disaster.

This series always did a better job of bringing out the tragedy of Revenge of the Sith than that movie ever did on its own. First just by finally giving Anakin and Obi-Wan, and their friendship the screentime and humanity they all needed to work, then by showing just how many people *would have been there* for Anakin. How many people really did have his back and would have helped him if he had been able to open up to them about him and Padme. Jesus, even having Rex around in Episode 3 wouldn't have been nothing. But The Clone Wars then went the extra step to really bring together the sorry state that the Hubris of the Jedi Order left them in- that they couldn't help people, couldn't understand real humanity and normal lives, that they were *lost* in all of this. And that was their downfall.

Times like this really emphasize how the Jedi order really HAS fallen from grace and lost sight of themselves. Their inability to adapt and practically blindly dogmatic clinging to their policies (or heirarchy in politics) left them ripe for the pickins of Sidious and Order 66. Mace Windu in particular embodies this better than any other. When Boba comes after him, he doesn't make any attempt to apologize or make peace he just says what amounts to "Oh well. Get used to it." I'm not saying the jedi deserved genocide because of what they were becoming and how they were choosing to act. I'm saying they weren't acting like true Jedi anymore. If anything, Quigon, Anakin, Ahsoka, and Obiwan were the last true Jedi by the time of the prequels.

@evingrindle19292 жыл бұрын
I really think that Yoda's arc in season 6 really was to show his growth and how he became who he was in the original trilogy. Prequel Yoda (pre Revenge of the Sith) shows him to be just as blind if not more so than any other Jedi, seeking to preserve the dogmatic, legalistic order above all else, even if it meant sacrificing basic natural qualities like empathy and attachment. But in the season 6 arc, one of the last things he says or alludes to is that things in the immediate future didn't look so hot for the Jedi. He accepts the flaws of the order and the reality that they might be doomed to destruction. This explains why he might seem not as adamant and concerned as the rest of the council in the movie to save the Jedi order and why he was relatively calm during the purge and when he and Obi-Wan went back to the temple to investigate. The arc also showed him the failures of not just the Jedi Council/order, but his own failures as well. He was able to see that in the Jedi's attempts at becoming "true Jedi" by detaching themselves from emotion, they were becoming more like the Sith in just wanting power and more prideful, as evidenced by his original treatment of Ahsoka. Now in season 7 and ROTS, Yoda obviously wants to stop the Sith and preserve his friends from death and destruction, but he also is understanding of the fact that maybe the old order should be destroyed and they should start again, even if it means darkness takes over for a while. It even adds to the beauty of his speech to Luke in TLJ (which is a good movie with a few flaws but still good and Luke's arc makes perfect sense to me). Yoda finally understands what it means to be a Jedi at this point even after centuries of being widely known as the best Jedi and he wants to make amends with Ahsoka as a start. 😊
@8ZakattacK94 жыл бұрын
Fear, mistrust, bitterness, hate and anger all culminated in the destruction of the Jedi Order. I think it's kind of sweet how ahsoka seems slightly concerned about obi-wan fighting grievous but at the same time obviously thinks he is capable of defeating him when she says "the war could be over soon". Shows that although they disagreed on some things she still believes in his abilities and cares about him. Shame that they likely didn't see each other again...

I can safely say that if they had made the last four episodes into a movie and released it in theaters I would have gone in a heartbeat.

If you cut out the shot with animated yoda and cut between scenes the moment mace turns his head for the door, the transition is even stronger. Otherwise, yeah. That's exactly how it happens and it's awesome.

Indeed. Just about each of these SoM (Siege of Mandalore) scenes can easily blend and fit in with ROTS smoothly with the right editing. It's as if we're watching an extended edition of ROTS; looking at it and fleshing out the ROTS narrative in a fresh new way. ^_^

Ahsoka only sees Yoda as a true Jedi. Yoda sees Ahsoka as Padawan regardless of titles, as well as tried to establish two way trust even while bound by the Council's decision. Yoda is the only Master who learned the lesson of the incident: Ahsoka is a good person and they should trust her. He is the only one who realizes she doesn't return because she is disappointed in the Jedi and is the only one to overcome the Council's hubris of "others have to change to fit our wise outlook". He is really trying, but Ahsoka knows its still not enough to truly make the changes the Order needs. So much nuance built into this scene, its so cool.

Yoda was this close to being on Plo and Qui-Gon's level of humility and being a true Jedi.

The Animation is so beautiful here and the atmosphere of the scene as well. I also love how warm Yoda is to Ahsoka here!

Damn, you mixed both pieces into the entire conversation from the movie! It's unbelievable this animated show is taking place during a live action movie, so it's hard to visualize Ahsoka in a non-animated form.

Yoda was a wise and good at heart Jedi. And at the same time he was blinded by their arrogance. It’s so confusing but realistic cause this is exactly how real people behave, incoherently, we know things deep down, but on the daily and with interactions with the system we live in, we just go along. This is why Yoda failed, even if the deep of his heart was at a good place.

I always loved how Ahsoka and Yoda viewed eachother. It's as if Yoda knew Ahsoka was very important and that Anakin was the right person to train her, but Ahsoka always viewed Yoda with that sign of respect however knew that things were difficult for him greatly, without even being that close to him. Makes me wish we could've seen more interaction between the two. Reminds me of Ahsoka and Plo's duo

Something to keep in mind about her not speaking up...while the council probably insisted they were open-minded and equals, it's VERY clear Mace threw his clout on the council around a LOT and was the voice that nine times out of ten silenced other voices or what he viewed as dissent with his low key egotistical attitude. Even Yoda wasn't immune from it, a prime example is him going rogue from the council when he was having force visions because he knew talking to them further wouldn't do any good because of (primarily) Mace's dogmatic views, but you can see it between Yoda and Mace in small ways during council sessions. So her not saying anything was probably an ingrained response to Mace's attitude since like Yoda she felt she wasn't going to make any headway offering information...he was telegraphing that she was considered an "outsider" to the order now, IE not seen as trustworthy by him at least.
@MCSPARTAN501 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. Mace Windu outranked everyone but Yoda, and actually oversaw day-to-day operations. Very few Jedi, including council members, would openly contradict him.
@concept563111 ай бұрын
Makes me wonder if people like Mace ever made it to a position as high as the High Council in other periods of Jedi history (aside from Meetra/Revan's time).
@paull327811 ай бұрын
I find it entertaining to imagine that maybe even Yoda was scared of Windu. Maybe he realized that Windu had long dabbled in the darkness and that 'Vaapad' was just Windu's way of deluding himself/others that he was still fully light. But maybe Yoda also thought he would need Windu, to take down the Sith Lord, given Yoda's own advancing age. If that were the case, the gambit almost paid off. Windu was the perfect weapon against a Sith. But also the one who brought about the Jedi's downfall by rejecting Anakin.
