My sister Ahuura, Best between the Best female dancers at the unique Contest between all the past Heiva female winners during Heiva I Tahiti in 1989. Ma soeur Meilleure des Meilleures danseuses en 1989, concours réunissant les meilleures danseuses du Heiva I Tahiti et Tiurai réunis.
Elle nous a quitté le 7 juin 2014 à l'âge de 50 ans :'(

thanks for her. 5 years of practice improved her performance, her talent.;o)) You know what to do now ;o))). She doesn't dance anymore but her 19 years old daughter is currently a dancer of Tamariki Poerani of Makau Foster.

Boy can she really shake it up here! She's moving her hips and rear end at 90 miles and hour! Tahitian dancing is the sexiest dancing in the entire world!

teriimataha, this is so refreshing to see. I get so sick of watching all these videos from the groups here (USA) try and imitate the modern ORI, with ugly results. Your sister serves as a beautiful reminder of traditionalism. I like modern, but only a few can do it properly. Maybe that's why I like O Tahiti E because they are trying new things without sacrificing tradition. Te Muhu a Fenua is a great example. Anyhow, thanks for sharing :)

You're welcome, thank you very much for her. ;-) Yes! she keep on sharing it to her 22 years old daughter who was asked to enter in soloist competition this year at HEIVA I TAHITI 2009 by Makau Foster of Tamariki Poerani. But, my sister advises her to refuse for this year because she feel that my niece is not ready on her mind.

I agree, but then again the ''booty'' dance you are referring to, and this tahitian ori dance, is two different types of dances, and from two different cultures, with a different history behind it. So it's wrong to call the other silly!

by training you must and will dance like her. She doen't yet have any knee pain till today (she's now 45 years old, oops she will kil me for telling her age LOL). according to some specialists morphologies suffer problems as yours in praticing ORI. like any sports you must do 20 min of streching before any pratice.

il0vej0emama, Is your halau kept their feet flat all the ways? Bases consist in : feet flat (NEVER on the toes)+ tight heels!!! If not, it is what we called modern ORI.
