The main problem with this it gives a huge advantage to players with the best internet because the AI will be more active for them. Whenever I play top ranking players it always feels like their players are on steroids, have perfect positioning and win almost every dual and loose ball, whilst my players all go hiding and can barely pass the ball. In my opinion most of the top ranked players are gaining a huge advantage from internet connection and AI is doing a lot of the work for them.

To those in the comments being angry or annoyed by the mobile player base, please don’t be. Any and all frustration should be directed towards those who control the direction of the game and those who are in charge. As players all we can do is play or walk away (with or without our wallets). Normally I would add, “express our thoughts “, however this has gone on long enough, that it’s clear we aren’t being heard. Yes, the game ought to be separate on mobile and on console but that means more work and cost, cutting into profits. Resulting in a mobile centric experience at the detriment of all players. We want and deserve better, however all we get is more ways of having our money taken away. I realized when they implemented this, good players would play and position themselves automatically, and the opponent didn’t need to do anything. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to score goals against those who know how to exploit this and easier to be punished for trying to defend out of anxiety to recover the ball, especially when playing against 5 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders. I already know these are people who don’t want to bother defending.

AI "defending" (or AI anything) is just a sugarcoating for scripting. The same players in each team, and one team is like as if it was on legend, players react with unreal responsiveness, make superhuman blocks, players like Salah win headers vs Van Dijke, De Ligt outpaces Vinicius etc, while in the other they move like beginner level, balls go through players as if they were ghosts and goalies can't make a single save. I play this game for 15 years now, and since it went into this epic-booster card frenzy direction it looks more like a casino rather than football. The game was so much better in the mid 2010 era, it was not about cards but about what the end user can do with the ball on the pitch. You had a lot more control over the tactics down to what each individual player does during a match and the AI had little influence on the game. I miss that, if KONAMI had not updated anything since then but the engine and the animations we'd have a game 2-3 tiers higher than the current one.

Hi, this has already been possible in other PES games. The difficulty is more in not selecting the players or deselecting them in time. In the past it was also possible to let the CPU take the free kick by simply letting the time run out. In front of the opponent's penalty area, the player then also liked to score the goal. Watching your videos recently. Great work bro! I accept my skill issues, but the 'perfectly timed' network lags, the conceding of goals with the first attack of the game, conceding at injury time of each half, the strange player behaviour is making it impossible to play for years now. 21+ years of e footballing (FIFA on PC, PES on mobile, etc.) experience here. Just recently came across this AI defending stuff making life hell for users. Playing PES/efootball since 2018, (I never rage quit) and Writing this comment after losing 8-0 in division 6 which is probably my heaviest defeat in any form of football (electronic, real life). 3 goals from perfect network lags, 3 from defenders 'megging themselves to concede possession. It seemed impossible to string 2 passes together right from kickoff. It felt, just like you said, very, very different with all sorts of intelligence working against you. It felt like the objective of the entire game was for the ball to be played in my penalty area. I'll edit this comment after trying this AI crap out. Currently a former Division 3 player struggling to get promoted to Division 5. Let skills/morals go down the drain. Who cares?

Hello Med! Amazing (and sad) video analysis on the current state of eFootball. Thinking that you don’t even need to defend because the CPU does it for you-and even makes the first pass if there’s a teammate nearby-is truly absurd and humiliating for a game that’s supposed to aim for competitiveness and realism. Instead, it’s shifting toward an arcade style, and maybe even a more automated experience if they make Smart Assist mandatory beyond just the events. That would truly be too much.

I play with a team rated 2.800 in divisions and after min 60-70 they are dead, red on stamina with Xabi Alonso manager :)

@mednasah Can you make a video about something I've been noticing that helps "maybe a little" when making passes and reducing the chance of the opponent auto blocking with the A.i Basically, when you already have a passing target decided (or the only option) ahead, instead of aiming with the analog stick where you want to pass and them press triangle, or X, or L1 triangle.... you will release the analog stick and just press the pass button, (any type of pass you want) If you do this, (at least what I think and what I noticed doing) is that the opponent AI has greater difficulty predicting the trajectory and sometimes even goes through them like a glitch, and they don't block it! It seemed useful to me for through passes. Remembering I'm not sure if it's all in my head or if it's actually helping!

I think you are mistaken in this conclusion. The prominent AI defending is not to benefit new players at all. It's actually to increase the winning rate of high division, paying customers. You can see that this AI-controlled defense is way more efficient and active with EPIC players like Viera, Kanté, Thuram, and Nesta. Plus, players with some game knowledge know how to position their selected player and let the AI do the rest. A newcomer would be changing cursor constantly, further messing up their defense structure and opening spaces. In this state, the game only allows paying players and experienced players to win more games, and new players have an even harder time winning.

Speaking of AI, sometimes i see unbelievable performances of my opponent's goalkeeper, and i have no idea which stats of that GK made him do that crazy save. maybe make us a video about attributes of a goalkeeper (awareness, reach, reflex, etc) and how to fine-tune them specifically for Short and tall keepers. And also how does the reach/reflex/jump attributes works on the match. Alot of us don't have cech/kahn/..., so we just customize nominating/highlight GKs just to have someone on the goal and make it to the 90 minutes 😅. That video i just talked about would be so crazy and helpful. Anytime such video comes out, I'm going to be the first watchin it 🥳 god bless u sir

In my experience, when playing divisions the 'scripting' becomes more powerful the closer you are to either promotion/relegation. This acts both ways i.e; it works in your favour when close to promotion and very much against you when youre on a losing streak facing relegation. I'm currently a Div 3 player but have plated in all divisions including Division 1 depending upon how much time I have to play... What are your thoughts?

One thing I always criticised EAFC (Fifa) for was the fact that the game became a bit of a skill spam simulator, but now I know why people abuse skills so much. It's because Fifa did the exact same thing Konami is now doing, implementing massive AI hand holding. Skill spam exists is because skills often beat AI defending. In Efootball skills help but they are less effective. It's sadly got to the point where Efootball is now more pay to win than EAFC. In EAFC you can learn skills to beat AI defending much easier, and if you learn the marketplace and how to trade, you can buy top players with profit. In Efootball skills are far less viable and fluid because of the "realism" mechanics, and AI defending is far stronger, meaning if you come up against someone with a full epic squad, you are at a huge disadvantage, because unless you have played every week for 12+ months, your free squad simply won't be able to offset the massive disadvantage. These days people build insane squads on fifa in 7 days. Sad sad times, I quit EAFC because of it's heavily monetized P2w mechanics and AI defending, and now i've pretty much quit Efootball for the same reason. EF22 and launch day EF23 were less "polished" but were far more manual, which was so much more fun imo.

It is crazy indeed Medna with the AI. I think it is made like this to encourage pay to win. It works as you have some of the best players in game. Maybe make a team with players rated 88-90 each and do the same test out of curiosity. I think it will be a slightly different story

@@mednasah I have a team called My worst players, I use it in Divisions, aprox. 2780-2800 team strength. Team gets improved when a new player replaces the 900th weakest player :) As u can imagine most opponents have +3100 strength. I tried last night for 2 hours and they do some interceptions, they never pass like in your video, but many times they can't be in the right place in the right time to do the interception, hence most of the time just run to get in the right spot. I think opposite players have higher attacking awareness vs my players weaker defensive awareness, hence opponent players usually get the ball first and have also a little more time to react. From minute 60-70 when stamina goes low they don't even run anymore, can't cover spaces. So, it does work, but in a much lower extent. I got with My worst players in Division 2 but I couldn't scratch my nose in any match :))) it's very hard for me to go in D1 with that team...against 3150+ teams my players seem like swimming :) Maybe u could, u're a better player.

I play with a Bayern Rtg team and have tested the AI defense. My defenders basically do nothing. They stand 5m away from their opponent and react very slowly to the attacker. After 1HT and 4 goals conceded, I started defending manually again.

I think konami implemented ai defence to help the noob mobile players with op booster when i played against a noob mobile player with op double boosters the defenders is auto blocking the shots on goal and auto intercepting the ball now the ai defense is hard to break cause konami want players to keep playing and spend money on the game
