I think that Facebook's generosity with Llama3 lies largely in that since it has bought the scientists and CPU power, if they went closed source, they will be brawling and losing to Anthropic, OpenAI, (and the soup of the day proprietary models, e.g. Reka) open source is their easy road to without breaking a sweat, gain attention, be seen as credible competition and gain OSS developer mind share no doubt llama3-* fine tunes will be winning for some time until GPT5 , Claude 4 blow our minds next

Did everyone forget what Microsoft did to IBM and OS/2, thus FOREVER cursing humanity with the weakest, least secure, most unreliable operating system just to race to be first to market??? This time, open AI, being largely owned by Microsoft, both don't even hide their desire to be first to market and you've got to see their flat unwillingness to open source what they view as their finishing blow-- We're about to prove to God and the universe that we haven't learned anything at all from the Microsoft backstabbing ibm fiasco (we would have a de facto standard operating system reliable enough that it still runs some ATMs for banks, true 32bit preemptive multitasking....) I quit humanity (or just won't lift a finger--maybe only for the Neurodivergent) if we end up with a closed source oligopoly

Hi Jason, long time listener and fan and I’m hoping you can help, I was recently suspended from X. I know you’ve experienced the same. I’m hoping you can give me some advice on how to get someone at X to respond to my appeals? I have had this account for 15 years. I’ve recently built an amazing following and community. For the first time I was going to be able to monetizes all the work I put into this account and then boom. Suspended for no given reason. I had reported an account that was impersonating me but then 20 mins later I was suspended. I’ve had friends tweet on my behalf, written emails and made 60+ appeals. I even applied for a job at X and told them my experience and would to work there to help them fix this. I’m at a loss as to what is going on there? It’s so sad because I’ve met so many others on Reddit who’ve had the same experience. It’s greatly affecting the mental health of these people that have built X into their lives. So if you can help at all I would greatly appreciated it. Thank you - @ChardonnayBoger
