Regarding FF XVI, we have not seen anything because in FF XIV: Endwalker we though we were fighting "the final bad guy", when it reallity that part was not even closer to being the end of the story. Also, the DMC is not buttom smashing and is not "on rails".

make no mistake, BotW is absolutely genre defining and redefined open world exploration. sure you can trash on weapon durabilty all you want, doesn't change the fact that it redefined open world. botw is the first open world game where you can truly say, it's true open world with no limitations put on the player. the only limitation is the player's creativity. the fact that you can go and straight beat the final boss after the tutorial is insane. the game has insane interactivity with the environment thanks to its physics and chemistry system. it's the ultimate sandbox open world. and rami is spot on about botw's use of verticality. that it makes very clever use of high points so that the player can set their own destinations by line of sight with interesting attractions from high points. botw does this better than pretty much every other open world games. like, it's hilarious and hypocritical that cohh shits on botw's emptiness yet went on to praise and love FF15... which has an even more empty world than botw. maybe if the game had massive loots and shoe horned in "rpg elements" he would have loved the shit outta it.

"Elden Ring wouldn't exist without BotW", what? You're acting like BotW was the first open world RPG, it's not and i agree with Zeke and Cohh it's over rated, dull and doesn't do anything genre defining. Nothing in BotW was monumentally original for open world games. You are acting like GTA, The Witcher 3, Skyrim and the countless MMOs that exist haven't done amazing open worlds before BotW.

@@Primarch_Vulkan Referencing Skyrim in a conversation about BotW's impact on open world games really shows you just glazed over when Rami was talking about the difference in design. There's a video by Game Informer where game developers talk about BotW's design, that might help you understand unless your dislike of it is irrational.

I just started playing Breath of the Wild for the very first and I couldn`t disagree more with Cohh... Even with all the things that are bad about that Game it 100% is Genre-Defining. I do think that Dark Souls was inspired by Ocarina of Time in some way and has a lot of similarities... And Elden Ring was in a lot of ways inspired by Breath Of the Wild. Did Elden Ring do it better? Way better! But that doesnt mean that BotW isnt crazy good.

I think the solution is easier than it sounds - governments need to stop bowing to lobbyists and regulate digital purchases with an element of chance as gambling. When there is literal jail time on the line for allowing children to participate the problem will go away. Yes, everyone will switch to battle passes, but there isn't anything unethical about those, everyone can see the rewards and decide for themselves if the value is there.

Oh shit, Rami came in talking about a major point I am concerned about with AI. I'm surprised that I don't hear more people talking about this in all fields concerning AI. Experts aren't worried about AI taking their jobs, and they shouldn't be. It's the people that are looking for growth that are going to be losing opportunities. Sure, greedy rich corpos will want to save money, but even well intentioned start ups will have to question if they can afford investing in someone's growth instead of spending less money to have AI generated content. New artists, new voice actors, new musicians, there's a good chance that we all cost a bit more than some AI you can spin up and prompt; and you can't blame a small indie for wanting to cut their personal costs where ever they can. It will be an interesting hurdle to overcome.

Ironically Wyatt Cheng, the Diablo phone guy, has a KZbin video showing him write a Flappy Bird clone entirely using AI. Using a combination of Chat GPT, Midjourney. and Unity. He did get a few mistakes but when he prompted chat GPT to correct those mistakes it did so. You still have to have a programmers logic mindset to create prompts to produce viable code but it's possible for simple games.

So, the consensus is screw you if you get hacked it's your fault and any thief who targets you gets to get away with it. Using his same logic (Rami Ismail) if someone wipes out his bank account and max out all his Credit Cards it's his fault cause the buck stops here and he should not get any money returned and charge backs and his name restored back to good health. Because he should be a better thief then the ones who targeted him. The buck stop here is a stupid comment, it means we are happy enough to blame you and not get to the source of the problem.

I don't think it's fair to compare Genshin to the typical gacha game, nobody in the panel gave Genshin a good chance except I think JP who played during 1.0. It's just genuinely a great game with one of the best story in any video game, great music, great voice acting (I'm playing in japanese), great open world, great lore...etc The gacha thing isn't different than opening loot boxes in Apex, it's everywhere and Genshin being playable on mobile doesn't mean it deserve comparison with games only made to make money like Diablo Immortal. If you look at english twitch streamers who started the game recently, Zepla regret having pre-conceptions about the game and wish she started it earlier. Necrit is loving it too and he cleared the story without spending a cent. It's funny that later in the video when they discuss the new Zelda, they talk about verticality in exploration and Rami says nobody ever did that. Well it's in Genshin in the Sumeru region. They did Zelda better and Rami think they "stole 70% of that shit and didn't do it as well" because he's talking about the first region. That's like comparing POE 10 years ago when it had only 3 acts to the current POE, they improved.

Yeah, Genshin still gets judged so much for how it first released. I've had so many "serious gamer" friends try Genshin in the past 6 months and get blown away by the quality. And that's without spending money on the gacha. The verticality of the chasm was amazing. The first time I realized it just....kept going down felt like a Subnautica moment of "wow this games is more than I realized".

genshin has the unfortunate situation where its both a chinese game and has sexy anime characters - you actually risk getting cancelled if you talk favorably about it, especially in america. but they can never openly say that, so they always criticize the gacha aspect, when in truth, genshin is one of the most "fair" version of gacha because it has a hard pity . There is a limit (although its still pretty absurdly expensive) so there actually is a realistic point where you have obtained everything from the gacha and have no reason to spend more. its a far cry from "predatory", compared to other gachas from japan that have the same grindy, never ending aspect that zeke was talking about in the yakuza game except you spend money instead of time But yeah, having so heavily copied botw, being a game from china, and the anime artstyle ensures that it'll never be acknowledged in the west. But the developers dont have to care because they're making so much money from everywhere else in the world anyway :D
@None38389
@None38389 Жыл бұрын
I think you might be reading too much into it, they were mainly using Genshin as a vehicle to carry out the conversation on gacha. And it would be perfectly fair to claim that Genshin have gacha, which was the only negative thing they claimed regarding Genshin in that conversation. The conversation wasn't about whether Genshin is a typical gacha game or not or how it compared to other game, the conversation wasn't really about Genshin at all but the idea of gacha itself.
@pinolskun8764
@pinolskun8764 Жыл бұрын
The fact that Genshin is a great game doesn't mean that the gacha elements bring it down various tiers of quality. Every gameplay aspect is influenced by that and made worse to push players towards spending. Yes you can enjoy the game fpr free but it undeniably worsened by the gacha systems

I see your point about why you're watching a trailer, but you can't compare FF16 to FF15 since that game is sadly undercooked to this day. I have to say that just FF16's combat gameplay looks significantly better than FF15. It's a Final Fantasy with the deep character action of Devil May Cry and the grand boss battles of the original God of War. The only thing I don't like about FF16 so far is the overuse of the particle effect in many Square Enix games recently.
