In this video, I introduce a new AI coaching feature 🤖 I recently discovered on LinkedIn Learning. For context, LinkedIn Learning provides short online courses 📚 on professional skills and was formerly known as lynda.com 👥 before LinkedIn acquired the company. The bite-sized courses have helped me pick up many useful skills 💡 by providing an overview and pointing me to next steps.
I demonstrate the new AI coaching feature which I found really impressive - it analyzes my LinkedIn profile information 📊 and lets me set a career goal ✔️, then provides personalized course recommendations 📋 to help work towards that goal.
I set a sample goal of transitioning from my current role as an Enterprise Architect 👷‍♂️ into a Product Manager 💼 position. The AI coach responds with some LinkedIn Learning courses 🎓 that would help me acquire relevant skills needed for that transition. It suggests productivity 📈 and prioritization 🥇 courses for example, which make sense.
However, I expected the AI 🤖 to provide more details on the actual contents of the suggested courses rather than just listing the titles and instructors 👩‍🏫. I also wished it could have suggested a pre-assembled set of courses or "path" 🛣️ specifically tailored towards my stated goal of becoming a Product Manager 💼.
Overall though, it does give decent recommendations based on my existing background and desired career transition. But in the future, I think it would be really useful if the AI coach could provide more specifics on the recommended courses and learning paths 📝.
Finally, I want to highlight that LinkedIn Learning can be accessed for free 🆓 through many local public libraries 🏛️ in the US. So it's worth checking with your library to see if you can get free access to LinkedIn Learning's platform and huge range of courses.
