I was offered a transfer within my company, moving from a "subject matter expert" role to a data science role where I can directly apply my SME knowledge to build digital solutions. I now have a serious case of imposter syndrome, but, no doubt it'll work out in the end, one way or another.

I can imagine the impostor syndrome applies both ways! But yes, it will work out with time! 😊 For me I didn't have in-depth SME knowledge in any business fields so this also took me some time to learn.

Nice that you share some of your personal life. I'm INFJ too, not that I'm giving hints. Haha. The imposter syndrome is very real. Like you mentioned, mistakes should be part of the game, it's one of the ways to get past imposter syndrome. Good stuff.

The company I work for, has already directed us to avoid using AI tools like ChatGPT at work because of the risk of exposing company data, and customer data. The general philosophy is that copy/pasting company data, or customer data into a ChatGPT window is no different to posting on a social media platform - once it's on the internet, it's there forever. I think this is a reasonable approach, though such tools can be very useful without actually risking data exposure - unless, of course, one was to learn from all the inputs from a block of IP addresses known to belong to a certain company. In which case, even if no customer data was used, some general areas of focus or business strategy would be evident to a competitor with enough determination.

Thta's indeed very true. I think using APIs and host data and computation in a sandbox would solve part of the problem. I hope when Microsoft integrates LLMs in their software this would become possible too. But there are indeed always some unknown risks behind this.
