I often say, if people want to shitpost, they will find a way. AI is merely one of several bastion of shitposting subgenre, and every iteration gets more asinine and accessible than the last. The only thing more dangerous than knowledge is ignorance, and this video demolishes ignorance in a funny way. Most people just dismiss these AI memes as hot trash, and they are, but there really is more to it. Something that can be appreciated and learned from by real artists. NOW. There is a difference. a HUGE difference, between learning from something, and following an example. And like I said, if people want to shitpost or follow an example, they'll do it. I've seen kids do it for decades. My own nephews are using AI. It's not exactly difficult. I've never done it because I don't really want to, but...I don't want to make any actual art either. There is something about people going out of their way for something that fascinates me. Even if it's out of convenience. Convenience leads you to a dead end of contention. You either walk off the beaten path and make something new, or you give up when it gets a little hard. This, too, is true for AI voice shitposters. For pretty much all KZbinrs. My channel is a great example. I found a video editor, or some way to make content, got bored, and stopped. On and off and on and off, for a decade. And over time, some other doofus rises up with some new method of creating janky slop, and so on. *The circle of shitposting.*

@@naganut9718 I'd be less against it if I wasn't someone who used to be pro AI. You know how sometimes the people who hate smth the most are those who used to love the thing the hardest. To me there is no distinction anymore - you let one exception fly and the rest of trash will follow, especially with a tool that can be so easily misused due to its low entry level for consumer operation and virtually NO laws against any instances of its use. I used to think the same and two years ago I would have agreed. However, I simply got bored of AI humour too quickly and I see no value in it anymore. There are many artists who do stuff on their own and never get enough recognition even though their stuff is pretty preem, but they can't get enough exposure in the first place with AI slop flooding the internet. So the way I see it is that "depends how you use it" doesn't apply in my opinion since you trade off a high potential technology to make silly jokes or synthesize some titty images and in turn you have an even higher capacity for fraud, industry destabilization and environmental cost. Yeah I know that everythng can be used for good or bad - but life is not black and white. It's the potential and ease of misuse that people forget in this debate. I simply don't think the ratio of good to bad is even with this technology, how accessible it is, how unlawful it is, and how it is creeping its way into appliances that should not have it. I see your point and I do not mean to change it as I think you are reasonable. I choose to be the unreasonable one until the time comes I am reasonable again, when the narrative shifts in maybe a decade or so.

@@ecoista1373 not really photography requires actual talent, photographers don't just take photos, they manipulate the enviroment around them, mess with the lighting, edit the image, they do a lot more than just take a picture. ai art is just an image someone asked an artificial intelligence to generate. it doesn't even count as real art because by definition art has to be made by humans, art reflects a lot on the artist's preferences, sensibilities, etc. but ai art doesn't becuase the "artist" essentially gets someone else to make the art.

It was obvious from the start, most people only hate AI when the content it produces is objectively bad, for now people have started enjoying it because it's funny, but when the technology evolves far enough where "good for an AI" becomes just "good" , what's going to happen? Are the same people that watch illumination movies and the newest disney+ series going to care if it was made by AI or not? And even so, what about the next generation that grows up with AI content being just another type of content out there? And that's assuming people will still be able to tell the difference, as of now AI is still incapable of making anywhere near good quality stuff (videos music etc) even with human assistence, but it's a bit naive to think it's going to remain that way forever.

If ai gets that good, everyone is out of a job, and art will be one of the few things humans will have left to do Ai can never be an individual. It couldn’t have created Calvin and Hobbes because that was a project only Bill Watterson could create. Publishers initially didn’t want to publish it, because they thought it was risky. Ai has no reason to take a risk or do something because it pleases itself. It can only extrapolate based on what came before, and while that could potentially lead to stories that aren’t bad (though we aren’t near there yet, and when/if we get there, most jobs are gone anyway), but it can’t truly create something that’s unique to an individual. People see value in unique stories and content. My two favorite stories are Calvin and Hobbes and One Piece. I’m confident ai could never make those stories because it would have no reason to take the risks those stories made specifically because the author enjoyed making those choices As it gets better, I’m sure it will compete with real artists, but I think there will always be unique artists creating unique art. Wish is probably the closest thing Disney has made to an ai product (outside of LA remakes that cheat by still having the original story made with heart), and it did terribly. You can’t just make safe, bland products and expect constant success. You need individuals making risky choices built off passion

Honestly, this might be a hot take from me, which not everyone may agree with, but... I personally don't like when some people use other people's voices for AI purposes or stuff like that.. Like, i know some of, if not, many of you find this kind of memes funny, but... Think about it for a few minutes: What if said person/actor who had one or multiple roles in movies, games, tv series and more isn't comfortable with people using his/her voice for this kind of purpose? That's what i fear.

not necessarily a hot take, but one that some don't voice now that there is a "it's fun don't be a spoilsport" ongoing narrative. AI and tech bros are smart enough to know that in order to push this tech they need to let people do funny and cute stuff with it while covering the fact that this technology can fundamentally cause more harm than good and that it is built on the biggest data theft in known human history. Moreover, the technology eats massive amounts of energy which is not great for our environment especially now - they have to downplay the issue in order to make money. So I agree there. Clipping and voice matching or impersonation is cool - you can always tell it's not THAT person. But the moment AI generation came into play, this shit started to get dangerous and I've seen it in action, causing real harm by impersonating people in a way you can't tell. There is currently a voice actor strike as VAs try to negotiate for new laws to save their careers. I can understand that and I support their struggle because it will set a precedent for other industries to call or laws to protect them against being replaced. Otherwise, what and who will stop AI tech from taking away more once it becomes capable enough?

Before ai, if you told someone that they had a machine that could literally recreate someone’s voice in a way no human could, your first instinct would naturally be that someone would need to sell the ability for someone to use their voice. But since the floodgates opened in the most unethical way possible, people take for granted the fact that corporations are selling people the ability to take someone else’s voice and make them say something they would never say. And now they act like you’re being ridiculous for thinking someone shouldn’t be able use someone’s voice without consent, even if it’s just a meme
