Data science is a highly specialised field so the opportunities here are very less compared to typical SDE also most AI jobs require work experience of 3+ yrs in relevant fields. If you have such a profile than you can take a chance, else it will just be a massive struggle. Hard reality is good AI jobs are typically for guys like these, rest all are just data analysts. I don’t understand why people have started moving away from SDE , I still believe Software development is much harder than DataScience. Creating a ml/dl algorithm in sklearn, tensor flow than performing fancy techniques like hyper parameter tuning, drop, early stopping etc is very much easy than designing scalable systems.
