This is insane! Coming from the VFX industry, we used to have to track the camera, line it up with the environment paint out the characters, then roto/animate the CG characters by hand on top of the footage. Even when we got mocap data, it was usually so janky that we would only really use it as a guide to and animate by hand anyway. This test footage looks better than what most of the film studios used to spend millions on.

Thanks you for video. For a visualization on blender, is the 3D depth perspective of a video in relation to the people present respected when 4 people, for example, are lined up at different distances on a floor? because I did a test and I found myself with characters that were not aligned correctly on blender, there were some who were above on the stage as if they were flying instead of being aligned horizontally. Thanks

Can you replace a real actor with a digital clone of another real actor? For example, could someone use this tool to replace Tom Hanks in Forest Gump with, say, Robert Downey Jr., and have it look like Robert Downey Jr. was originally in the movie?

We will need the 3D tools to get a little more realistic at this point, Unreal Engine is doing crazy job. but yes soon enough everything will be fake. and we will change the meaning of fake and real. 😅

Compositors probably hit the most by this if the tech works as good as the commercial to match colors. Animators have been dealing with mocap for years already, main difference is the common person has easier access to mocap tech that for years cost 20-40k
