Jaby the mass recruiter is basically a very generic company guy that hires avg,/random/failure people on a large scale to do basic tasks for their companies (administration, clerks, call centres etc.). That is why the guy is putting all the students in the back of the truck. And "weighing" them is just a mockery of the recruitment process which seems as if the someone is buying things on wholesale, without actually caring how good the individual things are . ( if you get what I mean) Another thing I wanted to add, the "defective" products refers to people (among those who were hired) who leave the generic companies to do their master's abroad or in search for a better job/quality of life.

The whole trilogy is about the Employment scene here in India. People maybe in whatever branch of Engineering ( Civil, Mechanical or Computer sciences), many of them end up in an IT job during placements,just because it is high paying. Due to the lakhs of people sitting for interviews during placement period, they ironically showed how people get selected. Not depending on their coursework but just some highschool skills. Try to understand the 3rd part, u might get a full idea of what the scene actually is.

Indian placement system is classified into 3 important rounds : - Aptitude test - Group discussion - Personal Interview The scene you saw where in Tanmay acted as a mass recruiter communicated that Tanmay represented a company which hires students in bulk as the organization's reputation is not upto the mark in the market. Such organizations are subjected to a high percentage of attrition rate and they hire students in bulk at a very low CTC (Cost to Company: equivalent to annual salary). Also they are termed as mass recruiters because for them skills doesn't matter much and therefore in reality they conduct the interview and recuritment process just for namesake and ends up hiring a whole lot of people in the same company but at different city loctions. Mostly banking and retail industry organizations follow such process. In the scene, the placement coordinator is enacting a scene of a vegetable market wherein students are represented as vegetables on the table. The placement coordinator's job is to sell as many vegetables (students) as possible because Indian colleges promises a job post the Bachelor's/Masters education. On the basis of placements Indian colleges are ranked upon in the city. Tanmay then orders for 600 kilos of vegetables (i.e 600 kgs of students/ 1200 pounds of students) - this may include 10 to 15 students who will get a job. In the last scene, the dude has cleared his aptitude and group discussion. In the next episode you will see him struggling through the Personal Interview. Mass recruiter is recruiting the left overs who didn’t get the first placement. The way the students are stacked up is a way vendors back there stack up non fresh vegetables and “water” them to make it more attractive.

An older me would've said that maybe you shouldn't have reacted to this, but growing with your channel, I've seen that even though many jokes are very cultural in nature and may be lost on you the first time, but eventually you'll get a hang of the context, and by contrasting it with your own culture, we'll get a hang of your culture too (though most English speaking Indians watch a lot of Western entertainment so we're already pretty acquainted with your references). For this specific series, maybe if you watch 3 Idiots (I don't remember if you've seen it) you'll be able to relate a lot of things better in general about the perils of doing engineering in India and the rat race of placements.

Hey Jaby in order to get the placement jokes you need to about the Indian Education System a bit which is VASTLY different from that in US. In India almost 90% of all students either go for engineering or medical. That's really HUGE amount of students in the same field. So you probably can imagine the amount of immense competition as every year over 10 lakhs engineer pass out. Here the "mass recruiter" caricaturize the companies who indeed are mad recruiters... They give jobs to all those engineers who really would have been sued for some other field but due to the binaryness of the Indian educational system went the engineering way (which is really huge in number)...

That's right, in the mass recruiter scene, the students are being compared to cattle. In certain parts of India, we have huge animal markets, where hundreds of livestock are purchased by the mass and loaded into trucks exactly like the one showed in the video.

India is home to around 10,396 engineering colleges, out of which not more than 400 colleges impart quality education. The rest of the colleges are private institutes that serve as a secondary source of income to the owners. Around 1.5 million engineers graduate every year from these colleges, of which hardly a few are qualified enough for a respectable job in an IT company. The fees of the private institutes are so annoyingly high for a student of humble backgrounds, that they slowly and steadily become desperate for jobs. This is where "Mass Recruiters" come in. These companies hire the unemployed, desperate students at an annual package of almost 3 lakh, which is equivalent to around 4500 USD. And the worst part is that the work these companies expect you to do adds ZERO knowledge/experience to your life. So yeah, the situation is quite messed up. The mass recruiter is like an ofiicial of a company which have very very low requirements for jobs. So, mass recruiter pretty much gives job to every guy who is needy and because of which the college staff (Rastogi) respects him a lot as colleges prefer to provide direct from campus job placements so that students will prefer that college more. The sprinkle thing is to show that the production of goods (college students) is good. The main motive of that "Sprinkle* thing is to make the products look fresh to the mass recruiter so that he recruits everyone for job.

Hey jaby, i realised you got a bit confused at 4:10 Actually in that scene, aib shows mass recruiters recruiting engineers as per weight and are filling them in in the truck. But then his assistant realises that about 150kg is less. So he calls the gardeners saying that they will put him for testing. Even further as rastogis weight is less by 2kgs, they put him in after feeding him snacks to compensate for 2 kgs. This scene was basically a sattire on the placement system of india, where multiple engineers are hired at low pay.
