Once two of us, (both girls and friends with each other) rented an apartment in a society. We were both unmarried and our landlord did give us the flat after a lot of 'clarifications (no, we did not drink, no we did not have boy friends, no we will not hold parties, and no we will not hang the undergarments out in the open to dry (!!) etc.). and even then, for the first few months, the landlord and his wife would drop by at random times giving some excuse or other to check the home, including the bathrooms, i guess for signs of alien life (or boyfriends) or drugs or whatever. We were in our early twenties, but we did not yet have the guts to oppose, so we sort of laughed it off. But yes, so called elders in Indian societies do take a lot many liberties to do moral policing. Very accurate video and a very insightful reaction as always!

The place where i live currently. Landlords hardly let any bachelors especially college students (male) give their room for rent. I still remember the time when i went hunting for a good room for rent dressed up like a guy from the early 90’s. The landlord judges the hell out of u and then in the end tells “room only for married couples”. Oh and there was the time when my sister who was 3 years younger than me came to visit me, the landlord simply assumed that she was my girlfriend and lectured me saying “no girls allowed”. Had to show him my family photo along with a conversation with my mom to convince him. 😤

Reference about that guy on phone: there's always this one guy who doesn't know the location of your house and you cant go pick him up coz u dont wanna miss ur own party right? So u explain to him the directions to ur party but everytime he messes up and eventually calls u again and again and when you wanna make sure where he is .. he might tell u somewhere so wierd that u didnt even expect that it existed on earth.

In India, meat eaters are often discriminated against when renting out apartments because a meat eater is linked to Islam. Of course, by narrow minded people.

Raashi Mudholkar it's not because they are linked to Islam. Most sikhs have meat and drink too, but never get discriminated as much. It's just meat and alcohol consuming people are discriminated against. Muslims usually happen to fall in one of those categories. Bachelors today are much more harassed than any community in India while finding an apartment for rent.

I live in Bombay in a rented flat, I've been in this city for 5 years now. And I've seen a lot of this stuff. One of my old landlord had issues with us cause we had a specific person over to our house.
