This AIB video is great. And yes, my depression has been long-standing for years, but I move past it as it lurks in the background. Everyone is different, but it’s important that people move past the stigma of it and understand that it’s something we need ACKNOWLEDGED and understood. Also just throwing this out there. Kangana equated depression with NOT BEING SMART. She said “he did engineering, how can he have a weak mind?” Sushant was smart. No doubt about it. I am smarter than most people I know (tooting my own horn). Mental illness does not mean our brains are broken. Don’t support ignorant statements.

um I interpreted it as something else tho, she said "people might say sushant had a weak mind but he was a smart and intelligent person" and by this, according to me, she might have wanted to convey, "sushant did not have a weak mind, but there are times when people become weak as a person. They just get tired of fighting and suffering alone, to the point that they don't want to go on with life anymore and they end up taking such a drastic step. But that doesn't mean sushant had a weak mind....time and situations had not been the best for him, and led to what he has done today" I can understand kangana's frustration w Bollywood and its rigged game, because she faces that on a regular basis and I have read such trash articles about her.. i know she is a bit impulsive but I am sure she did not intend to ignore/equate depression to something as "NOT BEING SMART". It's up to us, how we perceive things:) also, hang in there, mate:)

I think the whole point of this video is to say nothing at all to the patient. Period. Advise him seriously and immediately (at times make sure) to get medical help. Exactly what you would do if he says he has typhoid in reality. You pick him up and take him ta a doctor for treatment and prescription. Treat depression as any other illness.

I always advocate sympathetic and non-judgmental approach towards people suffering from depression. But I will also admit that there are people who are utter and pure 'cry-babies' who love to complain about life whenever you interact with them. Whenever you call them they're upset about this or that. And it's those people who have done so much damage towards society's reaction towards Depression. These people will clearly tell anyone that they have "Depression". Yet they don't know the meaning of it. As someone who has lost a close friend to suicide post depression and another friend currently undergoing medical treatment from depression, I can tell the difference. The more you talk to different people the difference is apparent. You know the two people I know who legitimately had Depression, never complained about life. My friend who committed suicide was at a friends home 2 hours before he hung himself, encouraging that said friend to help him overcome the hardships of life and two hours later he committed suicide. We were all in so much shock! understandably so because people who commit suicide usually give no loud indication of it. I wonder if even they know before only a few moments that they would do something like this. So what i'm trying to say is that as much sympathetic we need to be towards people suffering from depression we need to be on the look out for these 'Emo-pricks' who claim to be in depression and give people actually suffering from it a bad name.

The thing is depression is an illness, true, but nowadays lots of people are saying stuff like " there is no reason why depression happens". That's not true. There are reasons behind why depression happens. A normal healthy person with a normal contented life and a healthy childhood will never have depression. None of our lives are perfect and depression has some deep rooted reasons be it childhood or anything else. And it's not wrong to ask a person suffering from depression to follow their passion , to work out, to do something they like. These are all effective modalities of psychotherapy. Depression has many stages, just like any other disease, and kisiko depression Hain matlab zaruri nehi Hain that he or she will be in her bed all day taking medications
