when they did this show at my high school, the girl who played amneris told me that she couldn't perform this without crying. When i saw the show, i was bawling my own eyes out by this scene and i saw that Amneris had tears rolling down her cheeks just as much as I did but her voice didn't break once. She was incredible! I'm pretty sure she goes to a really good music school now for theatre, thank god, because I would kill to see her on Broadway. I'm sure Sherie Rene Scott's performance was just as fantastic as my friend's and I'm sad that I was only like three years old when this came out on broadway lol. I wish I could have seen it. It's one of my all-time favorites.

The production that I saw wasn't the original broadway cast, but I still can't even talk about it without crying! I even got to crying in the middle of the British Museum about it and had to go to the ladies' room and calm down! lol

Poor Amneris...god this show must be emotionally draining for the performers. I can only imagine how much more powerful and impactful this number was live.
