*A little about the piece*
They're a motley crew of heroes, that have seen a thing or two. They've battled things from the deepest recesses of their world, to beings from beyond. They are: "Vox Machina."
Being 'veterans,' I tried to encompass this by way of the slow strings in the beginning, which gives way to a more 'folk hero' mood with the bagpipes, before finally settling on the typical 'epic' cinematic style. I definitely pictured Vox Machina jumping into battle a la Avengers style, and I hope you did too while listening to it.

I love how in the original versions, the arts were more how the crew imagined their characters, and these arts look more like the crew themselves. Also i love how people usually portray Goliaths like some kind of savages with constantly angry face expressions, while Grogg here is just vibing :D

With us so close to the bitter end with Vecna having ascended, with the group talking to gods themselves, and with the final showdown in their very near future, it is only fitting that we, your loyal fans, unite as one to spread these songs to every corner of the world. We stand united against the darkness. Lol okay, now that I've gotten the theatrics out of the way, I will say this in all seriousness. You deserve so much more recognition for these songs you've created Aiden. Keep up the amazing work my friend, and good luck to you in your future endeavors. See ya!

Maybe hoping for a professionally orchestrated version of this is a lofty goal, but it would sound amazing if achieved. Perhaps the musically inclined Critters could band together through the power of the internet and offer our own instruments up. I for one would gladly lend my upright bass playing to such a magnificent piece. Perhaps not professional quality, but imbued with the critter spirit!

Sean Feica I know a few people that would be all over the snare and viola part. I also know plenty of bagpipers, but I have no idea if they are interested it Critical Role haha. Personally I prefer oboe and english horn but the bagpipes do fit very well. Looking forward to when there could be a (semi) live rendition of this, it'll be magical!

Brilliant theme that's really benefitted from being remade and I can't wait to hear other remakes, the production value in this is great. I liked the addition of the bells in the background because at first it was very slightly distracting from the main melody but then when it syncs up and joins the melody at around 3:40 this resolution gives off a really satisfying thematic effect. Great work to the both of you and I'm excited as always to hear what comes next!

To get the musicians in the same place, rent percussion equipment, rehearsal space, performance hall, any other expenses.. it would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'm a professional percussionist in orchestras and concert bands, and I see the costs of this regularly. Believe me, I'd LOVE to make it happen, but it's expensive AF.

I was listening to this for the millionth time on the way home and just had to write out my thoughts and why I love this song so much so BUCKLE IN KIDDOS! 😂 The song itself is like a timeline of where they came from and who they are now. It starts soft with humble beginnings, rescuing Kima from the Underdark, freeing Whitestone and giving the rightful rule of the city back to the de Rolo family once more. It starts ramping up around the Chroma Conclave arc, a threat bigger than anything VM had faced before. But, of course, our band of adventurers pulls through and saves the day. Then a moment of quiet. Scanlan and Kaylie playing a last song of inspiration as they get to the climactic part of the story they tell together at the festival Percy throws for all the tinkerers and inventors that make their way to Whitestone every year. The final battle with Vecna the Ascended, new god and threat to not only Tal’dorei but Exandria. This is where we see them at their fullest, throwing everything they have into this last fight and preserving the good of the world, sealing Vecna away and leaving this HUGE titan towering over Vasselheim, a gargantuan monument to the MANY people they’ve saved. But not without sacrifice, and the song trails off as they reflect on the loss of a dear friend, brother and lover

@SeanFeica
@SeanFeica 7 жыл бұрын
The problem with mass mixing of choir voices is the differences in recording setups. While it absolutely can be done, I honestly don't feel I could achieve the same level of quality I prefer to output, unless there were enough people with quality recording. I'd love to be proven wrong through.
@ethanbarnacles
@ethanbarnacles 7 жыл бұрын
Sean Feica I hadn't really thought of that, but it definitely would be a legitimate roadblock. perhaps a smaller group of singers with wider than average ranges, recording multiple vocal, parts multiple times, overlayed on top of one another could achieve a more professional end product :)
@SeanFeica
@SeanFeica 7 жыл бұрын
Again, possible. Assuming I could get enough people with good setups and a good voice, syncing the parts would be interesting unless everyone can use a click track to a pristine level. Choir honestly works best in one place at the same time..

Hmm... I like the heavy drumbeat at around 1:50, but a lot of the time it feels too "crowded" if that makes sense. To me, it feels like you try to put in a lot of fancy sounds, rather than use pure and powerful ones, like in the old one. There's just a bit too much going on, if that makes sense? Especially with the "Drop(s)". Rather than sounding like a crashing wave, it's more like a bunch of rocks, marbles, and plastic pieces falling on the floor. Too many sounds at one time, diminishing the experience of what should have been wave of sound and emotion washing over us in one moment.
@SeanFeica
@SeanFeica 7 жыл бұрын
What was done, was to make the percussion sound as realistic as possible, in a real world setting. The original had too much of a "machine gun" feel, and a lot of work was done to give it more life and breath.

Sean Feica I will admit I felt the same about the clash/heaviness of the piece at first too. Then I gave it another go, closed my eyes, and realized that you guys really made it immersive! I was taken to the battlefield as Vox Machina faced some deadly foe. Those chimes, those chills around 1:28, the drums! Excellent work you two. C:

Making sure that everything came through clearly, while still having that "punch" was by far the most difficult thing to accomplish with this production. The emotional platform needed to take the forefront.

Be that as it may, and as much as I respect the work put into it, I can't change my feelings on the matter. I'm not saying that this is bad, not by any stretch of the imagination. To say that would be flat out wrong. What I am saying, however, is that I don't find this piece as good as its predecessor. There may be better samples, it may be made by someone with years of experience, but I still can't force myself to like this more than the old one, just because it's supposed to be "new and better" :/ Please understand that I'm not trying to insult. I'm really not. But I just don't like how many different sounds are blasting me all at the same time.
