Aikido do not work in real street fight, ect.... yeah but it has a lot of follower. After O-sensei died, there were disputes between the top brass of Aikido organization. Some ppl split and founded their own style. The Aikido we have now is the result of the decission made at that time, to which direction Aikido should be developed. Not all ppl want to join training where one get punch to the head in regular basis. Or ligament injury, etc. Moreover about street fight, it is not the sama as cage fight. Aikido, MMA, Silat, etc. mght work for those who honestly train threir arts.

I train Aikido for a long time and I used it successful as a police officer. I don’t need a drinking bar fly to tell me aikido doesn’t work. I don’t understand why they do it either.

Aaron Cross I'm sorry but that's what it is...I am a second degree Aikido black belt but had training in other systems, including karate, judo and taijiquan. The problem with the Aikido is that there are no live drills or fighting practice. If you keep just practicing the form, you get stuck in the form and are incapable of using it in different scenarios where the opponent does not follow the patterns you have been exposed to...even Taijiquan has a type of live sparring during which you actually try to push and pull the opponent or striking him/her with your shoulder, elbow or knee or foot...it's far more realistic than practicing drills forever like in Aikido... having said that...you still need to have experience with the unpredictable...and that will make your art to test...

And you do, on what base can you claim that, even a blind man can see that this is a waste of your time and money, and totally useless, unless you train for the art it self and maybe someone culturel interest, but even you have to admit, that this is not a martial art in the classical sense anymore but way of exercise coming from a martial art.

yes /demonstration the attacker telegraphs his movement and also the person that demonstrates/ in real life the attacker will stop at the firt stept of demon/ why aikido just have the demon not have show real fight? "Aikido is often translated as "the way of unifying (with) life energy" or as "the way of harmonious spirit". According to the founder's philosophy, the primary goal in the practice of aikido is to overcome oneself instead of cultivating violence or aggressiveness.not fight.

Why it's either or ? When you have to push through obstacle, you have to use aggression. Harmony in this context means using opponents momentum against him. Aikido was earlier taught to folks who already mastered a martial art such as jujutsu, Judo, or Sumo Wrestling.

Sad to see the effectiveness of Aikido diminishing from the founder's techniques or any of the old timers (Tohei Kouichi or Saito Morihiro). It's easy to see that the attacker is just flying here and there. Better to watch Iwama-ryu as they're far more effective than what's shown above. Just stating the truth. This is not the way to propagate the art and training. Cheers!

I'm a street fighter once upon a time when I was younger I was in a fight with a so called aikido expert and I beat hit ass in front of all his friends. Aikido doesn't work in combat, it looks good when the attackers let them selves get thrown around but definitely not a combat art. If it did work you would see them kicking ass in a cage fight which you never do...

Aikido is not a fighting martial art. It was designed to subdue the average person, not to win a cage match fight. Aikido is very much a philosophy and art.
