Sadly Lily was not retconned in. In the novels she was always around but never spent much time with him since she spent a lot of time with Kouki and Hajime even before being transported wanted nothing to do with him since everything has to be done according to Koukis sense of right and wrong which allowed for no grey areas. All of that was supposed to be covered in the stuff leading up to Hajime falling into Oscars labyrinth. Which that anime cut for time.

To add to this, Lily's family would have had way more of an introduction if the anime didn't cut it out. Her father was shown for a split second, but anime-only people never get to see the queen or Lily's siblings

5:16 I have watched this show quite a few times and just now noticed the Halo 3 sniper sounds effects are used here for the gun.

Honestly, the anime skipped so much that this would have likely been season 3, not season 2.... And some of the skipped content basically now means some stuff comes entirely out of nowhere for "anime only" people. And that's going to be especially true if they make another season of this.... Imo, this is almost on levels of "Shield Hero Season 2" rushed content.

Ouch….yeah, good comparison. Funny, though… I found Shield Hero S2 far more infuriating with its cuts and changes than Arifureta in both seasons. They are 2 of my 3 most loved anime/LN series, but the studios managed to make screw ups that are so alike, yet so different.

I was shocked at how much I truly enjoyed that manga and anime, though that huge change at the end of the show pisses me off immensely. I’m worried how the 2nd season would have to fix that. Regardless, between Mieruko-San and Dark Gathering, I actually have horror anime that I love.
