This is exactly what happens when you're born into a family that is evil. All her pain and suffering drove her to kill people who probably resembled those who hurt her. I do feel sorry for her trauma is something you can't erase no matter how bad anyone views her. Her pain was brought on by people who was supposed to love her. Not saying it's okay to murder people just cause you were harmed but I think if 1 person gave a shit about her and shown her love she may not of done any of this. I also can't help but to think if these married men would of been home with their families instead of picking up prostitutes they'd be alive still probably.

Her "victims" where so surety could victimize her without so mochas a second thought to the possibility she would turn the tables on them. They were no better than the men who couldn't care less that they were fu_king a 12 yr old child. it was all about them. no sympathy, no self awareness of the brutality that they were about to inflict on a child, so self serving were they that the perspective of a 12 yr old girl being violently penetrated by grown men never once entered what used to be a 12yr old them. Nothing inhibited their actions or their ability to have an orgasm. Yes, I am being graphic because what these men do to these kids and the state of these men's minds, the lack or inability to feel empathy puts them a tight second in line in terms of being a psychopath The high moral standard isn't that they should have been honoring their marriage vows, its that men should not be exploiting those who are physically weaker than themselves just becausethey can.

@@alaashadad9598 I'm saying people tend to be more "forgiving" of females when all else is equal... That's obviously difficult to qualify since no two people will experience the exact same life forces but there's evidence it's at least "a thing" and this one is an example. The comments are *loaded* with "poor chick"... When in fact that almost never matters with a guy and probably wouldn't have here without the childhood explanation. Yes it's a "reason" people act a certain way (childhood) but it's never an excuse... But it appears to fringe on it in cases like this where everyone ends up feeling more sorry for what the killer went thru as a child to "create" the monster than what the victims experience and their families must continue to endure. Far as I'm concerned there should never be mention of "sorry for" a killer... But here we are...

True. But if anything can be learned from this, when you see abuse happening... to either an adult or a child, especially a child (very influencable).... REPORT IT. Don't let it keep happening. She should have been taken away from her grandparents. There are plenty of cases where people are abused and don't turn to crime, true, but... statistics don't lie. When abuse happens during childhood, the likelyhood of that person turning to crime is far greater. I don't excuse Aileen either, but we NEED to learn from this. And many other cases.

Excuse me?!? I've watched a lot, if not all of these Documentaries by now, but did I hear that right?! "She's trying to gather sympathy for herself at this point because a lot of Sex workers are raped." *That in itself, stated as if it's just the way things are just "supposed to be" made me sick, what Hell of a world do we live in?* Yeah...she was oh so cunning and manipulative and that's why she confessed to everything to keep Ty out of trouble and why she CRIED on a phone call she didn't knew would be recorded because of Ty's deal? Why SHE said I Love you and Ty didn't even bother to reply to that? That's why she REFUSED a lawyer and said: "What's a lawyer gonna do at this point? There was no other girl. Put on the Electric Chair for me." ...mere SECONDS before she started sobbing and I don't feel like that crying was played or an act, that was the crying of a Woman who knew what was awaiting her and was STILL trying to protect the one person she thought loved her?! If she was truly so cunning, why did she leave a palm print and was so clumsy with leaving damning EVIDENCE? You don't have to be an expert to think: What if something did happen the way she described and that set it all off? After all, they mentioned in the beginning that she was selling her body pretty much from a childhood age...if she was truly such an evil born person, then why is there not a single case of murder before that? I mean most "actual" Psychopaths torture people and animals from a very young age or show signs of aggressive behaviour. Her behaviour was certainly not normal at that age and she had a criminal record...but no such thing and NO Murder. And just saying, but she was abused, used, abandoned and blamed for EVERYTHING by her Grandfather, so why wouldn't she act like a man to feel like she had at least a bit of control/power, when all she knew was that men were abusive and had more power than women? Why was she attracted to women only deep INSIDE? Maybe, just maybe because she felt so much hatred towards men, since all those she had known her whole life were abusive men. And why Overkill? Because she enjoyed it? Well, if you'd grewn up like THAT something eventually would've very likely triggered a f...ing TRAUMA RESPONSE? Ever thought that was what sent her spiraling? She saw her opinion of white men confirmed in those cases, even if they were completely innocent victims. PS: THAT DOES NOT JUSTIFY HER ACTIONS, NOR AM I SAYING ALL MEN ARE BAD...but wow, I don't need a Criminology or Psychology Degree to tell you that some of the things said by the "Experts" in this Documentary are far too superficial. I did have a lot of respect for the female Analyst up until this point, but...how can you do a job for so long and still be so one sided and plain wrong?! I feel so so sorry for her victims, but also for her. And the simple fact that she wanted to protect Ty til the end shows that despite everything she had been through, she was still somehow capable of loving someone...Show me another Serial Killer that acts like that and is a oh so cunning Psychopath... maybe then I will believe your Experts again. And I bet Ty did get a kick out of it all, the money, the getaways...and finally saving her own ass while the person she supposedly loved so much getting Executed and she didn't even visit her ONCE.

I don't see how she "cried" when talking to Ty makes her less "cunning" and "manipulative" as a whole. I don't think they mean she was cunning when she was with Ty (one individual) but more like how she behaved when there were bartenders and detectives. etc. (in general).

@@natalie0155 I didn't just mean and/or mention the conversation with Ty. And she surely acted a certain way and was indeed manipulative to a degree, I agree. It would be surprising if she wasn't at all, honestly, especially considering her childhood and that she pretty much was in constant survival mode. I just don't think her sloppiness in all this e.g. makes her an equally cunning and manipulative Psychopath like Ted Bundy or even some other female killers. True born psychopaths may act like they feel something towards others, but truly, they don't. Not really. Also, she had a had a history of Schizophrenia in her family, which I think you can very much see fully broken out in her last Interview. Her appearance in court and her body language there don't fit the *highly* cunning story either, she made a mistake she wasn't aware of while talking and if you have your whole narrative already planned out, you aren't likely to make such a mistake.

She has experienced so much brutality out there and when she finally mustered up enough courage to defend herself she enjoyed the experience but it caused her to hate those men so she took it out on every man she came in contact with. She began to kill out of fear. I understand her fear and I also don't agree with how she started killing those men but I noticed in her movie that she didn't just start killing. She was beaten, raped, sodimized, and tortured by the first man she killed Which scared her tremendously she didn't start killing she was provoked by the nightmare she had just encountered that week she was even being violated by the people that were supposed to be protecting her (the police officers) they even bribed her for free sexual acts. And, she didn't kill everyone she met only those who she thought were intimidating. Some of those men are out there raping, beating, robbing, torturing, and killing prostitutes. So she decided to kill those men because she finally was in control and she loved it so she kept doing it.

I understand she suffered immensely at a young age, abandoned by her parent, watching her grandmother die of over drinking, and her grandfather possible overdrinking as well, abuse and abandonment. She managed to survive this period. Millions of children had hard abusive childhood but managed to turn their lives around and become a very good role model as parents, and productive citizen. I remember hearing the biographer of Steve Jobs saying that Steve, was adopted by Jobs family, who were poor, and he used to collect aluminum cans to sell it so he can buy hot meal, worked at young age to finish his education. That is amazing inspiring story. Aileen got a break when she married someone older, but financially able to support her and provide some protection. Instead of using that break to improve her life, with education, and therapy, she abused him, to the degree he wanted out of the marriage. Her life went downhill when she fell in love with a younger woman who needs support from her. To that point she had minor issues with the law, did not kill no one. Her criminal path began, luring victims who are well off with the sole purpose of killing and robbing them. While in the victim's car, promising them sex, she begins to undress and encourage them to undress, ask them to go to secluded area with the purpose to kill and rob them. That is her criminal plan to support herself and her lover's risky lifestyle. "Overkill and enjoy watching her victims destroyed" that is an evil criminal mind, and heartless act, garner no sympathy at all. If she wasn't caught the victims count would have continued to rise.

How often have we heard that once it's a police officer in their family they all get outraged and talk about finding that mother fucker. Then they call in all kinds of extra people. Our loved ones are just important to us as their police officers are to them. I've also had crimes committed against me by police officers. You truly are guilty until you prove your innocence not the other way around. One of the scariest is when I was when I was 21 years old at around 2 or 3:00 in the morning a police officer came to my house (I was married with a 1,3 and 5 yr old) to arrest me for an unpaid ticket. I called my mom before I left with him in the police car. Thank God I did or I might be raped or dead. It would take 10 minutes to get to the police station from my house. I live in a huge City and he drove all around the city telling me about women disappearing with police officers never to be seen again. I was very young and naive at the time. He kept telling me all kinds of bad stuff women suffer at the hands of policemen. And you know no one would have believed me. I am so grateful he knew my mom was meeting us at the police station.

I feel sorry that she went through so much abandonment and abuse in her childhood but I can't excuse her crimes, so justice was served I guess,I also want to add that I'm disgusted at the girlfriend who knew what Aileen was up to and never said a word because she was benefiting from the gains of her crimes only to throw her under the bus when she got caught, even when I watched the movie Monster, the girlfriend repulsed me.

It is interesting to see the number of comments defending her actions based on her terribly tragic early life. I agree that this trauma undoubtedly contributed to her obvious psychopathy in adulthood, but what is curios is that I never see these comments made on videos outlining the crimes of her male contemporaries. Is it possible that even the topic of true crime itself is not immune to gender politics?

Adarmus, Notice how many women are sympathizing with Aileen. I for one don't. As a child, she led a tragic life. She became responsible for her actions when she reached adulthood but chose to murder.

@Megan O I never claimed that her childhood trauma did not contribute to her psychopathy in adulthood. In fact it is surely clear from my comment that I agree with the idea of cause and effect as you put it. My statement was simply asking the question why this same claim is never made in cases of male serial killers with similar backgrounds. It is a question asked from genuine curiosity rather than from any ideological standpoint.

Male or Female, I do have some level of compassion for everyone that went through that special kind of Hell, especially in their childhood. It does by no means justify their actions later in life and I feel sorry for each and every single victim and their close ones. But I feel like you have to differenciate between someone who was BORN a Psychopath and could never feel love and someone who was MADE into a "Monster" because they were never thought what safety and love truly mean. Again, no matter if Man or Woman, feeling sorry for someone because they were abused doesn't equal to condoning or defending their actions. Many people go through similar things and never harm another being. It is, in my opinion however, important to take notice how much abuse can twist a human being, so that maybe, hopefully, tragedies like this case can be avoided in the future for the sake of ALL the people involved.

No, she wasn't evil. You need to do more research.. it speaks very clearly of misogyny that a woman abused and pushed to crime to care for herself, after years of being punished and tortured basically for being alive, turns to crime out of rage and desperation to survive; can be compared to people like Gary Ridgeway or Ted Bundy who were safe, healthy and privileged and just killed for pleasure. Aileen was a truly, truly marginalized individual who couldn't find one soul to care about her. Who was homeless, starving and without help from before she was grown. She had no way to care for herself from such a young age that all she could do was prostitute herself. It takes help and love in tgis world to make it, and most people take what they have so for granted that they think it's just their own virtue. When she finally did find someone who cared for her (Ty) she was so desperate to keep her around that she killed to ensure Ty had what she wanted and would stay. It was probably the only thing she could do to keep Ty as she wanted to be kept. And in the end Ty betrayed her to the police. Aileen did the only thing she could for all her life, and never found the salvation of understanding or love. She was an exploited scapegoat her whole life. Even in her death, there was no one to listen. Killing is wrong but Aileen was no Ted bundy.

You modern day feminists never cease to amuse me with your every day excuse for evil women who harm innocent men. So, in your logic, she was not a ‘monster’ because she suffered childhood trauma by few men in her earlier life therefore it is excusable for her to do what she did? I guarantee, you would not feel the same if this was a male serial killer who killed women and had childhood trauma from the hands of his mother or other adult women. The reality is that she didn’t target the men who mistreated her in her past life. Instead she targeted innocent men just because they’re male plain and simple. Childhood trauma is NEVER an okay excuse to take someone’s innocent life. Evil comes in all form whether male or female.
