Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 991 "Tan" (M991LIO): Review & On-Feet

Aimé Leon Dore dropped their first Made in UK New Balance collaboration earlier this month, with the release of two colourways of the 991. Today's review I'm breaking down the "Tan" colourway which consists of cream shaded mesh, premium tan coloured leather overlays, and accents of green nubuck and reflective panels. Sure the grey is easier to wear but you can find so many quality grey NBs in every model. It's standard. The tan and green is unique and won't find another like it

My tan pair came with some peculiar yellow staining on one side of one shoe's top plastic eyestay as well as a lot of loose threads. I think I'm going to offload my pair because the price is a big dent, and I don't know if I would wear them much. I am much more excited about my Kith x 990v2 'Cyclades' which just came!! Socks, laces AND a dustbag?!? Ronnie you are a saint

Hey,Sean! Killer review,once again. You’re killing my wallet! 😂 These are very nice. I’m with you on the suede over leather,grey with green. The leather on these are top notch. New Balance has been incredible in their quality. By the way,I kept the Travis Fragment lows,and I’ll just purchase the Union 1,black toe at it’s crazy price. Lol… Stanley Cup Finals tonight. My pair came in today, and I had similar stitching issues. That said, these are fire. I didn't try for the grey pair simply because I already have two neutral grey NBs. Now I can't decide between the cream or green laces.

I like these a lot but wasn’t the best quality control I’ve seen from NB. The leather cuts on mine had a lot of extra threads and strings on the side panel.

I got these in a 10.5 my normal size but I have the stray rat 991 in an 11 and I wish I would’ve gotten the ALD in an 11 bc they don’t fit

as far as sizing goes i feel the opposite. (i don have have the grey yet) but im a tts 10, amd usually just go tts because im nervous of them not fitting but for the first time ever went down .5 on these and they fit perfect! Also have a few long threads and some glue on the leather :/

it's just crazy that ppl like me who live in the UK paid £275 considering we dont even need to get them imported if you think about it. Its interesting how logistics work because mine were shipped to me from the Netherlands I would have thought they would have had a warehouse here in the UK but I guess not lmao

Great review! Love the aesthetic, but my pair also came with mediocre quality control: loose threads, scuffed leather, exposed glue marks, and a little brown staining on the sockliner

Got a minor issue on mine as well! The stitching near the heel tab overlapped, so the mesh was not properly secure, leaving a slightly loose area... too bad I don't know if we can ask ALD for a new pair! 😆
