Good shooting and video! It's so true, and I so often loose my focus on a tiny spot!

Good advice, Mr Carter. When I was taught to shoot I was told to pick a bb or a pin point and mentally focus on that one point. It works. Of course there's more to it. Everything has to be the same as far as your draw, anchor and release but concentration and repetition has always worked for me. You give good advice.

Excellent! I love these shooting tip videos! It would be nice to see everything you have in your pack on a turkey hunt, too👍

Another good point to remember. Turkey season is 4 weeks away here. Still compound no blind. More practice before I feel confident on the recurve. Never lost a bird and don't want to start.

Mistakes... if you learn from them and remember what you have learned then it is a lesson learned. Failure to aim low has cost me dearly several times, You think, it is so close, how can you miss? Just like that or maybe even clip the top of the back. Aim small, pick a tiny spot low on the animal, if it ducks, you got it but no matter what, a low would leaves a better blood trail to follow. High wounds, even killing shots tend to keep the blood inside the body cavity and therefore bleed less outwardly. Bow fishing, I started off shooting at the fish and missed more than I hit until I learned to pick the exact spot to shoot. I also forced myself to shoot at tiny objects up within feet of me until I could hit them every time and then began to slowly back up for longer and longer shots, all the while still shooting at tiny objects, like a dried bean or even a black eyed pea.. Train the brain at what you are trying to do and then let it take over... and quit arguing with it. God gave us the best computer ever and yet we can't use it right most of the time. Shine on Brother

Could I pass on something an old timer told me? He said to read the animal. Make your shot, if you can, when he starts to take a step. He reasoned that if the animal is taking a step he's committed and slower to dodge the arrow.

Good tip. I don't shoot at a deer that's standing still with it's head down. It swings up the head and drops at the shoulder twice as fast. Seesaw effect.

@@robertcarte95 good tip. Traditional archery hunting is really hunting. It's as much or more about the animal as shooting skill, that and knowing your and your bows limitations. Get close, pick the right time, and pick your spot.
