Sean, were you ever able to figure out how to get a brake pressure reading? Throttle, oil/water temp, etc. all work out of the box. Can't figure out how to get brake to work....

Great stuff Sean. Quick question, are you able to pull brake pressure from the CAN bus? I've read multiple reports that brake pressure doesn't work with the AiM Solo. Your videos show that you do have brake pressure, so I'm wondering how you got that to work.

Thanks for sharing this. Just got Solo certified at Chin, so my journey is just beginning, properly ;). Been trying Harry's laptimer, which is probably good enough right now, but knowing the ease of integration and capabilities of the Solo 2 really is darn tempting...

Cool! My latest video shows the AiM and SmartyCam in action and the lap time variance to HLT. Check it out.

In my opinion the 67HFOV (aka the narrow view) lens you and I have is best for in-car view, at least in the Exige - what do you think of it in your BMW (nice btw!)? For an example, all of my videos used the 67 lens. I say this because wider = a view more like a fish eye go pro. You can't see out the front as closely, and you see a lot of the side windows..which... I find who cares, you can't tell what is going on out the side anyway. Just my opinion, view other's videos and compare what you would like for yourself. You see in my examples that the view (when mounted on the harness/roll bar behind the seats) is a perfect view through the windscreen from left to right windscreen pillar and shows driver inputs too. I like that the camera/setup can also be set to auto start and stop based on movement or speed and it is powered by ODBII. With that my Smartycam is basically 1000% hands off during track weekends. It just works without worry.

dumb question, what cable length did you use for the cable from the Solo to the Smartycam? is 2 meters sufficient or should I get the 4 meter cable?

can you run 2 smarty cams?

Solo2 DL is a solid choice for data on cars with CAN bus. I've gotten a good use out of it this summer. How is the smartycam? does the real time overlay work as advertised? I'm looking into using it with my 2 DL as well but being careful since it costs nearly twice as much as brand new GoPro 7 Black which is a stunning camera.

Hey Sean, Why was it suggested to use the CAN connection as opposed to the OBDII?
@SeanS546 жыл бұрын
Per BimmerWorld and AiM, if you want ECU data for our cars you have to use CAN connection not OBII. Here's more info from AiM (section 2.1): www.aim-sportline.com/download/ecu/stock/bmw/4_BMW_OBDII-ISO9141-2+BMWMINI_103_eng.pdf
