Hi! Will you be doing one of these for this season? I’m still confused on the test changes, and whether this means my daughter has to move up from Aspire to Preliminary due to skating skills tests?

I plan to! However, sometimes life gets in the way! There were changes to Showcase requirements, and now Skating Skills tests have a bearing on competitive levels for Showcase event levels. Skaters must compete at the level for which they qualify. Duets/Trios must compete at the highest test level of the 2-3 skaters, and members of a duet/trio must meet at least the minimum test pre-requisite for Preliminary Free Skating or Adult Bronze Level. Skating Up is based on each specific Competition Announcement. It is only permitted in Preliminary and higher events for National Showcase (i.e., skaters in Pre-Preliminary may not skate up into Preliminary at National Showcase. Non-qualifying competitions may determine their own skate-up policy.) If you have questions, please discuss them with your coach and contact cmallory@usfigureskating.org directly or through your coach for clarification.

Great info, thanks!! I was trying to read all this on the USFSA website and it’s sometimes hard to understand. So thanks for putting everything in layman’s terms. One quick question - do we know for sure yet where National Showcase will be in 2024? I heard it was California, but I can’t find a confirmation of that anywhere!

I've heard that too but they haven't posted it anywhere!

Hello! I want to compete in showcases this year one is at USFS 2024 Sectionals. Q: If I enter another showcase competition can I do another number? And if I qualify in that competition in dramatic but with different music which would I qualify for. You thanks! Ms. Nancy

Yes, you can do different programs at different competitions and use them to qualify as long as CJS scoring is used for judging. Once you qualify, you can compete in that category with any program and level. In other words, you can change your program (although not the category) after you qualify. Please run these kinds of questions by your coach for their guidance and expertise,

Are skaters allowed to compete in a No Test showcase event, if they have passed an official USFSA singles test. The chart isn't real clear on this. I would assume "No Test" would mean no official USFSA tests in the singles category, but again it doesn't state that directly in the chart.

Found the answer in one of your other videos. Thank you for making such informative videos.

Showcase is different and does permit skating down. However, you should also check the competition announcement.
