I will never forget the night I saw Patti Labelle in Memphis. Patti invited people on the stage to song, and Chick walked up. Every music lover in Memphis knew Chick. It was almost laughable the way Chick was acting shy at first and Patti was encouraging her to sing. Man, Chick took mic and brought the house down! At one point, she even told the band (Patti's band!) to break it down... and they BROKE IT DOWN. The crowd went wild! LOL Then Chick tried to "shyly" hand the mic back to Patti. Patti refused, "No-no-no. You gonna finish this song, Ms Thang!" LOL. Patti talked about Chick all night: "What was her name again? Is she from Memphis? Miss Thang can SANG!"

I have been a Chic Rodgers fan since the early 80s. She has a God gifted voice. I once saw her in concert at a club that no longer exist called the J. Macks, in Memphis TN. The band that played behind her that night was so so, but she was dynamite. She put on a show better than any artist I had ever heard in person. Miss Rodgers keep doing what you do because you do it well.

Am sure she sang at the Marmalade Club in downtown Memphis in the mid '80s. Would bring me back many times with her take on Oletta Adams' "Get There" backed by Audie Smith's group. If I could get there whenever she is I would.
