The lady who coined the phrase "bug" was named Grace Hopper who was a Navy Admiral. She was one of the early software pioneers that worked on English like programming languages. The "bug" caused a short in a very large Mark II computer which shut down. When one of the engineers told Grace about the moth, she called it a bug.
