I disagree that Barry Carlson is underrated. I'm pretty sure most people see him as the great drummer that he is.

How would ya like to be that dude that replaced him, and already know rolling into this song that you could never measure up in a million years!

Awesome Band. I liked the fact that they were hard rockers that were not nasty and did not look like Devil Worshipers. They were like the Who in many ways with their attitude...just a bunch of wild dudes getting down and had a sophistication, not just noise..but they were "loud". Plus they stuck together, and did not pull a Van Halen on us.
@MrSKINFLICK7 жыл бұрын
In fact they're R&B with hard rock + punk rock elements. In the late 60s a concert poster of the Who had the lettering: "THE WHO - MAXIMUM R&B". Listen to "The Who - Live At Leeds" + you get how much they're influenced by Townshend + The Who.

I agree, but what an interesting mix, the pretty boy out front in his divine suits, another pretty boy on bass guitar, a crazy but very interesting character on other guitar, and a drummer that everyone says looks like their Accountant, but Wow do they fit together so well!

This performance was at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. You can see the dirt on the floor when Rick is walking around in front of the stage. The stage actually revolves very slowly. It rotates about 200 degrees, stops, then goes back the other direction.

gotta give it up to Cheap Trick for making a Fats Domino tune one of their go-to live songs for 40 years... total respect for that, and how they kill it every time... nice stick swap at 0:53 by Bun E.... Brad Carlson FTW!

There's no doubt that the superb guitar and drumming are signature of Cheap Trick but it's Robin Zander's superb voice that ties it all altogether so divinely

Don't forget Tom Petersson on bass! That 12-string sounds like no other and his absence is quite noticeable on the albums he's not on

Bun E Carlos one of the greatest figures in rock history . He's doing the intro a little different here . maybe he was a bit tired from the night out before or cheeseburger food poisoning ? dunno

Robin Zander has one of the all time great voices . i just wish primo guitarist Rick Nielsen would have taught Robin just a simple guitar lead the could play simultaneously a few bars one after the other a couple times in a song or in a performance . i just love that duo guitar thing . maybe they did, anyone know ?

You know: this band had some crazy energy in the videos from the 70's, and that is great, however, this seems to be that sweet-spot in time as the electric amplification tech was heavy, less mobile, and generally had a better sound than later gear invented in the 90 and the 21rst century, you know, the smaller, lighter, more technologically on-point... so, vocals are closer to those great steel hi-fi mics, less movement but heavier, stronger energy, yes?

I'm not atheist. I am what you could see as a pantheist and even agnostic at some level (although I don't like labels much). Proving "God" imho is impossible because we are part of "it". I don't think it's anywhere "separate" from us. We are all "faces" of it. Everything is. Peace.

Who are you to tell the world what it needs and what not? Progressing spiritually is in part to be objective and accpet others as is. Trying to tell other what to do/beleive in is right down going against their own free will. Nobody is forcing you to watch/listen to what you don't like. And you can't force people to think and act as you do. If you find this offensive, that solely because you allow yourself to. Peace.
@BIFFICATOR12 жыл бұрын
I understand your way of thinking but what works for me works well and I have experienced many wonderful things through following God's word. People can do what ever they like, the essence of pure freedom. Many people lack discipline laying around in squaller/drug abuse etc. Our Christian Rescue Mission helps people get off drugs, getting their lives back. Child Abuse, murder, harming others (subjective)=bad. Some things require objective and others subjective.

I apologize to those who like heavy metal. I like many of the same styles of music. I am not perfect but we need more love, respect and integrity. If society keeps seeking the "Fleshy stuff" well, we die with it and do not progress spirituallyr. I just do not like bands that use grose nasty (ie dead babies mutilations) no matter what their statement is. If they want to show real pics of death, then show it in a documentary..or sing against it, not venerate it. GOD BLESS Careful what you adorn
@JayMark204912 жыл бұрын
People get offended because you put yourself in a position of telling others what's good and what's bad and how they should behave.
@JayMark204912 жыл бұрын
How do you see where I'm coming from? And why are you assuming you know what I think about good vs evil when I didn't even talk about it? And did Christ talk to you personally or are you assuming that he really said that because of what other people have said? Do you know what objectivity really is? Peace.
@JayMark204911 жыл бұрын
What are you actually replying to? Where did I say that there was no ''creator''?

Blessings to you!! My atheist cousin communicates w/me as you do, maybe wrong on "where you are coming from" I am not offended by opinions or ideas. Objectivity look s at things from observable truth w/o personal bias. Not subjective as within the mind where emotions/moods can affect the truth. Like proving God in a lab may or may not be possible. I see design, so like a bldg has architect, I believe in designer. Gut feelings tell us a lot not objective. Many mysteries yet to solve!
