My attempt at an English translation of the song: Gema Raya The Reverberations of A Celebration 1. Dari kota ke desa, pulanglah berhari raya From the city to the village, let's return to celebrate raya Ayah ibu menanti gembiranya tidak terkata Father and mother joyously waiting for our return Rasa rindu memanggil pabila terkenang desaku tercinta Oh hari raya The longing feeling wells up when I remember my beloved village O raya day) 2. Rumah dihias cantik berseri oh indahnya The house is decorated beautifully and brightly, O how wonderful Ketupat, lemang, rendang juga kuih beraneka Ketupat, lemang, rendang (special Malay dishes cooked for this occassion) and all sorts of cookies Bila sanak saudara tiba di hari mulia akhirnya bersua Oh hari raya When relatives arrive on this blessed day and finally meet O raya day Chorus 1 Mari raikan hari mulia Come let's celebrate this blessed day Berganding kita bersama United we are together Menyambut hari raya In celebrating this raya day Chorus 2 Bergema takbir di pagi raya The takbir reverberates on the morning of raya Silalah jamu selera Come let us enjoy the feast Lupakan lah sengketa Let us forget our conflicts/squabbles Kuih muih semua ada There are all sorts of cookies Berbagai warnanya In all kinds of colour Hidangan pembuka selera The first meal spread as entrée Nikmat tak terkira Is utterly delicious Repeat chorus 1 & 2 Haaah ... ha ... huh (Tibanya hari raya, semuanya bergembira) (When raya day arrives, everyone is happy) Haaah ... ha ... huh (Kunjung mengunjung eratkan lagi kata kita) (Visiting each other makes our bond stronger) Haaah ... ha ... huh (Meriah hari raya, usah kita berduka) (On this merry raya day, let us not grieve) Haaah ... ha ... huh (Bermaafan sesama, lupakanlah sengketa) (Forgiving each other, let's forget our squabbles) Repeat chorus 2 .... until .... Berbagai warnanya Chorus 3 Meriah suasana hari raya How merry the atmosphere of raya day Silalah jamu selera Come let us enjoy the feast Lupakan lah sengketa Let us forget our conflicts/squabbles Ketupat dan rendang pun ada kuih beraneka There's ketupat and rendang, also all sorts of cookies Mohon ampun maaf dipinta, Selamat Hari Raya I seek everyone's forgiveness, Happy Raya Day

As usual aina's outfits are not actually attire to be worn in real life but that they represent whatever meaning of the song in this case the joyful stuff that makes raya day special and especially joyous and meaningful among the Malay community in Malaysia. For example, the first green outfit represent the much loved dish of 'ketupat'. The second white outfit represent the glitter of the various lamps all lit & lined up around the kampung/village garden usually from the 15th day of Ramadhan onwards. I'm guessing the headwear of the 2nd outfit represent the various chefs (most probably the mother) cooking rendang, ketupat & lemang in the garden (all delicious dishes - you three need to try them). I am not sure what the third outfit represent tho'. Maybe a cake & its decoration. But the 4th outfit definitely represent the énvelope with 'duit raya' (money usually given as gifts on raya day) in it. Then there is the 5th ordinary outfit of the happy, child-like aina playing with the fire sprinklers. Not to forget the more sombre outfit of the more filial & mature adult aina returning home to village and mother.

Gema (the 'g' is pronounced as 'ge' as in girl) means echo or reverberation or resonance (I prefer the meaning of reverberation) & raya means celebrate. Gema raya = the reverberation of the sound of takbir (recitation that glorifies God's Greatness that is usually broadcasted from the various mosques in the early morning of the raya day) in celebrating (in this context) the 1st day of the muslim month of Syawal where you can eat and drink to your hearts content after the prior muslim month of Ramadhan (which was a whole month of fasting for the Muslims). It's a joyful song of celebration for a joyful occassion but I think in the context of the story of the video, this happy kind of celebrating was sorely missed and I think happened 3 years ago in 2019 before the start of the pandemic - all that festivities happened when her father was still around but not anymore in 2022. Now in the year 2022, we Malaysians finally get to cross states and 'balik kampung' which means we can now travel freely back to our respective hometowns and get together with loved ones to celebrate raya. So the story at the beginning and towards the end of the song was the present 2022. The atmosphere of the present is a little sombre though there is much gratitude to be able to be together again after such a loong 3 year period.

This is a raya song, celebrating the eid after Ramadan which falls exactly today. Its normally about going back to be with your parents during the festivities.
