The book of Daniel divides into two parts, a set of six court tales in chapters 1-6 followed by four apocalyptic visions in chapters 7-12.
In chapters 1-6, Daniel writes about how he and his three companions became exiled in Babylon. The four are chosen for their intellect and youth and trained in the Babylonian court. Several times, they displayed their integrity toward God by defying both King Nebuchadnezzar and an idolatrous culture.
Chapters 7-12 contain the visions that Daniel received from God as well as the events in his prophetic ministry. Daniel offers hope that God will bring all nations under His rule.
