If you're going to start doing "my favorite..." type vids then I'd LOVE a video giving me best aquarium practices with a kid in the house. It seems like you guys have done a great job of exposing Leon to the tank while also keeping him from dumping stuff into it. I'm expecting my first early next year and would love to know your approach overall.

Child locks on the stand :)

You can never child proof a marine tank. Kids get bored and kids do random shit. They figure stuff locks and things out in no time. That’s been the last experience with mine anyway.

I can tell you the exact same thing happened to me with the space invader! I had 3x the recommended aluminum value with marine pure blocks and spheres. Removed them all and the Pectinia healed and is doing better than ever. Seems it can’t handle any amount of aluminum increases.

Hey Mok-Yi, the goni look great, the mushroom cage on the frag plug is an interesting take. Mine has holes all around on the side like your lid. If you want to pull out the Aluminum you could put in a poly-filter. "Poly-Filter turns color when removing medications. Aqua to Dark Blue: Copper or Copper salts. Orange: Iron. Bright Red: Aluminum." I have a file fish who hides most of the time, maybe they are a night time prowler.

Pectinia can be such puzzling corals insanely aggressive with sweepers that can wipe out half a tank overnight yet so potentially fragile as well Definitely a coral to avoid unless given a good two foot space of its own sitting all innocent for ages and then one night all hell breaks lose and many victims of its wrath are taken Aluminium at that level will definitely not be a problem or the cause of the pectinia's tissue necrosis the first corals to show stress from highly elevated aluminium levels are soft corals especially octocorals like leathers etc and also zoas and other softies (a well known fact), I would look more towards a bacterial issue that can be treated with a mixture of antibiotics in a dip as the cause of that particular pieces problems even a dip in just chemiclean may solve it it often proves very simple and effective as its a type of erythromycin if a coctail is not available or desired like the kfc dip which requires a few ingredients but is very effective, it's even effective against brown jelly

you can keep filefish in a tank with no aiptasia remaining, however you have to first get them onto frozen food, which is easier said than done, and then you have to feed it at least 3 times a day creating a lot of waste
@happychappy272 жыл бұрын
Also not true. Feeding 3 times a day won’t make a mess if your system is set up for it. I know people that feed a lot more in a day and their nutrients are low. If it doesn’t work for you it doesn’t mean it won’t work for others.

I swear there's no way to have an aiptasia free reef tank, it's in literally every tank I know, you just have to get animals that keep on top of it
@happychappy272 жыл бұрын
Not true whatsoever. I had aiptasia in my first reef tank. Peppermint shrimp cleared it it up. 3 tanks and 7 years later and I’ve never seen another.

I will never use anything but filefish. They cleared out both my tanks without me ever seeing them eat even one. As far as your space invader it's your nutrients. Look at mine on my page and you will see it's always that way. Fat and happy.
