@JRJAB44 check out my "Aiptek Action HD GVS 1080P @30fps - optical zoom and electronic zoom test" video, shot across Long Island Sound, showing optical zoom, followed by electronic zoom. It's not bad for a low-cost camcorder. Don't expect telephoto performance from it though. But, if you minimize camera shake (I was also told the built-in image stabilization helps), it performs Okay.
