Thank you for letting the Mom know what was going on when she arrived at the scene. As an ICU nurse, you wouldn’t believe how many times people get from the scene to the ER and on to ICU without anyone really telling the family what is going on. A doc may be great at explaining the patient had a heart attack, or was in a really bad MVA with head and orthopedic injuries, and others just say, “ we’re doing all we can.” I have a Daisy Award on my wall, just for caring enough about a dying patient’s family to ask them, “What is your understanding of their condition,” and then translating “doctorese.”

My mom was in a very severe car accident. The car rolled and she was pinned underneath. If it wasn’t for an air ambulance that quickly transported her to the hospital, she might not be with me today. So thankful for the paramedics that help save people every single day. May god bless you all.

The only thing that keep a mother from breaking down watching her child in mortal danger/injury is when that child depends on her demeanor being together. I don't know how old the videos are but they are amazing! I love watching them. The UK emergency air are a lot different than the ones in the US. I find myself trying to find more of them. And when I can't I'll watch the same ones again and again. For one I love the way you treat the patient. Your kind and understanding. I didn't see you bombardering the patient with questions. Especially when they are so bad off. I suffer from PTSD and I had had a pretty major surgery that morning on my left foot, ankle and lower leg. I had fell and I knew insently that I had done some damage. Plus there was blood soaking my bandages. So that evening we called the ambulance after calling the doctor's office. I was told to go back to the hospital. The men from the ambulance come in like gangbusters asking 50 blue million questions and they don't give you time to talk! They were Rudd. Then when I told them what hospital I needed them to take me to, they gave me some shit about it. But I told them why I had to go there, and they kinda mumbled where they didn't think I could understand it. But I did! I fall a lot so now I have a emergency button. But I refuse to use it just because of that! I would rather wait it out and see if I'm going to die or not. LoL Most people think I'm nuts! But if you are or were in my shoes you'd maybe think different. The one thing that I remember of that incident is that I had told them everything that they needed to know when they very first came in. I had my list of meds, allergies, surgeries and what had been done that day. So you tell me, why did they treat me like they did?! But I would love, that is if the occasion should ever arises. To have you guys and gals to be Johnny on the spot for me!!!!!!! Sincerely with love and prayers, a big fan! I do hope that someone from the Air Ambulances Services gets to read this. Only to know how much they are admired!🥰🤗🤒🤕😷👩‍⚕️🚑🚁🏥🏨💙💜

not gonna lie, as someone with a chronic illness with no real treatment available, ive been treated like crap in the medical system too and these videos are a bit of wish fullfillment fantasy lol. the way that when something is wrong, kind considerate people rush to help, and they know what to do and can treat the problem ... that's the dream isnt it!

@bluewolf993

And what is the point in wearing gloves on the flight? The point of gloves is to protect you from any disease, bacteria, pathogens etc that the patient may have. They are also to protect the patient from germs and bacteria that might be on the medical worker’s hands. If they already have gloves on in the helicopter then they are touching the seat, helmet, gear, doors, handles, bags, etc. I can’t imagine that all that stuff is sterile so they are putting all those germs on the patient but at least protecting themselves from AIDS or Hepatitis.

I don't understand why people still ride motorcycles... I don't even have a car, and I am desperate to find transportation. A motorcycle is an affordable option, and I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie, but I have seen plenty of videos like this that prove that motorcycles are a horrible option. You can be as safe as possible on a motorcycle, and still end up with life altering injuries if not death. Its just not worth the risk. I will remain vehicleless. It's too much of a risk.

What u find even more interesting is 17:20. Reported possible cardiac arrest, air ambulance arrives, gets into the ambulance... No numbers told, so nothing about puls and quality, blood pressure, spo2, breathing, state of consciousness whatsoever... And they even have a fully-automated ecg and stuff! And of course a bit later, the patient is in a full arrest and they start cpr... Like isn't getting the ecg and spo2 onto the patient as well as getting oxygen and intubation ready the very furst thing the assistant does, while the doctor or higher qualified personel asseses the patient??

@@heinrichchristiansson1908 Most likely that info was edited out due to time limits and viewer interest. I really don't expect them to constantly show the paramedics rattling off numbers that mean nothing to the general public, and them having to then "translate" the medical jargon. She is right...docs do stuff half-assed!😂 She sanitized things properly! They were creeping me out cuz someone on the scene didn’t have gloved hands & had body fluids on bare skin!😳😳 I would NEVER touch a patient without gloves!!!🤦🏻‍♀️ Surprised at the differences between here & there.... a helicopter is never shut down when they pick up a patient in the states. It’s literally a grab & go! They should’ve been tubing & resuscitating in the air. If the man was having an acute MI- “The Golden Hour” better chances of recovery if they get him to the cardiac cath lab within the 1st 60 mins....wasting time doing stuff on the ground! Things are much different in the states...

That gloveless person may not have had gloves available or they may have ripped. Agreed, not the best situation, but as long as he had no open sores on his hands, he should be okay. I'm sure he just did what he felt he had to do. And, guaranteed he had to report the bodily fluids exposure.

RSI is NOT rapid sequence induction!! It IS rapid sequence intubation - passing a breathing tube into the trachea! With the second patient it’s Murphy’s law that the intubation will be difficult when a camera is being used!!! Also, the elderly tend to have stiffer necks. Interesting to see that the doctor elected to use a combitube (2 lumens) rather than going for a cricothyroidotomy - an emergency surgical airway that can be made into a tracheotomy after arrival at hospital. I would never have flown a patient without a fully secured airway! Horses freak out when a chopper lands, but cattle are just nosy and like to investigate! Having medical crew unrestrained in the back is not a good idea!! If the pilot has to make a sudden manoevre, they will be hurt!
@kd5you1
@kd5you1 5 жыл бұрын
Either or both terms can be used. If the medical crew is restrained then they won't be able to treat the patient. Since there are few if any obstructions in the air there is no need to worry about sudden manoevres. I don't know about the UK but where I live LifeFlight helicopters are given priority over airspace which means other traffic is vectored around the LifeFlight helicopter.

Rapid sequence induction and rapid sequence intubation are both technically correct. You "induce" a comatose state in order to "intubate" the patient.

I'm sure there is a reason why she is wearing it that way. I can easily think of a few. 1) It may not fit properly and may even be restrictive. To be blunt, she is both a little heavy and large breasted, both of which can cause significant fitting problems. 2) She may suffer from excessive sweating. Better to not have the top half on than to have sweat running down your face and dripping on the patient. I don't see the other people on scene wearing jackets, so wearing an extra clothing layer could be a problem. 3)The brightly colored suit is for visibility. She has it on and is clearly visible. We don't know company policy. She might not be required to put it fully on- particularly during daylight.

Who cares she clearly is doing her job. And if you know anything about those suits they can get pretty hot. As long as she's got other members around her in the bright suit she is alright to do so. You're no manager or auditor. So chill
