The tank is only included on these units to reduce compressor duty cycle and create air pressures above what the pump can produce by itself. SCFM is the amount of air volume the pump can produce indefinitely if its ran continuously (100% duty cycle), even if the tank was detached. If you were to run an air sander that requires 10 CFM @ 90psi, the stronger pump would be able to keep up with it even when the tank is depleted.

Thanks for that explanation. I was never sure since the SCFM is always listed on either the tank or belt guard. You’d think it’d be listed on the compressor itself somewhere. Maybe it is and I just haven’t looked very hard for it.

@@DustinRogersinMO Have you used an air hammer with that big compressor?

@@dappa311 I sold the black compressor, so no, I didn’t really use it once I got it fixed.

60 gallons is so nice. Mainly Just because you can do a few tasks without it ever kicking on.

Thanks man I was pulling this up because there’s one on craigslist for 200 and it’s a 30 gallon on the craftsman think I’m gonna go with it I live in the sticks a bit not too worried about noise. Gonna be running a little bit of autobody on personal vehicle i’m hoping it’ll run a DA a little bit and HVLP spray gun.

That Kobart for a single stage was putting out a high pressure. I noticed it got up to about 160 psi before kicking off. Boy that is pushing the limts of single stage

What did you do to run the motor in 240? I'm about to rebuild the pump on my 20 gallon horizontal and I'd love to wire it to 240.
@DustinRogersinMO Жыл бұрын
I purchased mine this way but if the motor is capable of running 240, it should have a diagram on it showing how to hook the wires.

I had the 30 galllon version of that Craftsman for 30 years, not problems at all. 2 years ago, a meth head broke into my shop and stole it along with many other valuables. I'd like to find a suitable replacement,,,, they just don't make a comparable compressor these days.
