Awesome video, thank you for the succinct and clear instructions! Quick question: regarding the evacuating of the refrigerant prior to removing the lines...I've seen a few other videos where they've done a backyard fix by pressing down on the refrigerant refill hose nipple near the top of the engine bay to release the pressure. Wondering if this'll be enough, then just have a bucket underneath for any liquid remnants? Thanks again!
@paulthecarwhisperer2503 жыл бұрын
That will work. Just be aware that it’s technically illegal to release r134a into the atmosphere and make sure you don’t inhale any of it cause it’s pretty nasty stuff. Also be very careful when you go to disconnect the ac lines from the compressor because there will likely still be some built up pressure that you’ll want to release slowly

why do most ebay listing have single wire plug for the 2004-2006 TSX? BUT My TSX 2004 and 2006 that I own don't have single wire plug . both have 3 wire plug why do they use the same part number even tho NO TSX is a single wire plug there all 3 wire plugs?
@Hidihidihidiho Жыл бұрын
Why are you even using ebay? It’s way too likely you’ll end up with a product that all the other auto parts retailers rejected.
@joeydelmarsjr.646 Жыл бұрын
@@Hidihidihidiho no thats not the case. Turns out the aftermarket units have internal ground so that eliminates one of the ground wires on the oem harness the 2nd wire is goes to the thermistor switch opens the circuit when it compressor over heats

Must be a leak somewhere. If it gets cold when there’s refrigerant in the system though the compressor must still be working

How do it depressure the ac lines?
@paulthecarwhisperer2504 ай бұрын
You’re technically supposed to take the car to a shop to get the refrigerant evacuated from the system. If you wanna do it the environmentally unfriendly way you could press the high pressure ac port with a flathead screwdriver and let it vent to the atmosphere

Thanks for the Vid. Getting ready to replace my compressor. I know you haven't had it for long but how has the GDP compressor from RA held up? Also, did you replace any other components when replacing the compressor?
@paulthecarwhisperer2503 жыл бұрын
I actually did this replacement a while before I posted the video. I sold the car recently and it held up well until then. I didn’t replace anything else and was fine. Sometimes people have to replace the condenser if the compressor seized and sent shards of metal into it but I just had a clutch failure on my compressor so I didn’t need to do that

Thanks! I got a GPD compressor from Rockauto.com. They have some other brands as well but I’d definitely recommend rockauto.
