You're the first channel to show the real strengths and best applications of wood clay. Red rocking bird also did a great job going over the details. It's not great for sculpting but it great for Molds! It''s seems perfect for my application. Jazza's video was like a hit piece on wood clay, He used a different brand though. Did he ever come back to it? I suck at wood carving but I want to make some freaking marionette or something with this stuff. sculpt with an easier medium and then make a mold with this wood clay.

@balsalmalberto8086 thank you for your comments. I always like to try and make things work and if all else fails, show people other ways that work really well. I've been in the crafting industry for over 20 years, so passing on my knowledge is something I'm passionate about. You could still make a marionette using this clay. Start with a wire skeleton with tin foil padding, giving the overall shape of the body etc. Then use the wood clay to coat it. If you've never used this clay before, then certainly give it a try. You just need to be patient before you see any results. If you still want to try using another clay to do your detailed sculpting, then I'd certainly recommend the Playdoh Air clay. The link to that video is here...kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJi2aqp_jbipe6c Thanks again for commenting on my video. 😀

I wonder if , before painting, you could protect the surface with some matte medium or matte modpodge, to keep the clay from dissolving when adding a watery paint.
@MixedMediaArtsAndCraftsАй бұрын
@iknownothing-49 Thank you for taking the time to comment. You only paint the wood clay once it is fully dry (up to a week to dry, depending on the thickness of the clay). So you wouldn't need to apply something like Modpodge until after you've painted the wood clay. The clay can withstand a watery paint, as long as it's not for prolonged periods of time. I hope this helps with your query 😀

@MixedMediaArtsAndCrafts26 күн бұрын
@@mahafreij5431 thank you for commenting. With regards to colour, do you mean the colour paint that I used on the project after it had dried? If so, that was a dark brown. Burnt Umber or something similar will do, or a brown with some black added to make it darker. 😀

Have you tested the weight of this clay as it dried? I think it's lighter than regular DAS clay but Creative Paper Clay may have it beat?
@MixedMediaArtsAndCraftsАй бұрын
@balsalmalberto8086 although I didn't weigh the clay before and after drying, you're correct in saying it's lighter than the normal Das Clays. Again I'd say you're right with regards to Creative Paper Clay. I use a clay similar, called Hearty clay. Like the one your one, it's also made from paper pulp... so not much will beat the weight of it. It's almost feather light... but again the Playdoh Air clay is extremely light too, as that clay is a foam clay. 😀

Does anyone know... does it become soft again once dried if the in contact with water?
@MixedMediaArtsAndCraftsАй бұрын
@PeverinaAlpina if soaked in water for a time it goes mushy/soft. You can't successfully resculpt it after that point. I sealed mine with clear varnish, so that's helped to protect the pieces that I made during my video from water. I hope this helps with your question.

@EssGeeSee I'm not sure where you got your information from regarding that DAS wood has MDF in. So I'd be very interested to know the source of that information and add that information to the description of this video. Regardless of that, it's always good practice not to inhale any type of dust.

@EssGeeSee sadly, looks like and fact are two very different things. So, an unfair statement to make on a product without the backing of a proper source.
