Wish I could have seen this video 😢in 1965. The group i came in with arrived around sunset and the TI had been lecturing the flight on the basic stuff, folding underwear, short handle broom. We missed, address TI’s as sir, stand at attention even when the TI calls you to show you the inspection tag he found in a shirt pocket. To do otherwise is “ poor military bearing” not a good thing. Eyes front, no “eyeballing” the TI, we missed that but we were there for the 3am fire drill. We finally got out and in formation in under 30 sec.😂 No fun then but I realized later that was the first experience where we all worked as a team to beat the clock and get a few more hours of sleep. As for being up after lights out, I’m guilty but I had to know my general orders the next day and the only way was to sit in the head for an hour or so studying. Talking about the degree of difficulty we had in basic, I was on guard duty the first day after the OC. The TI from the flight on the other half of the building told me I was being relieved to do a job for him. He led me to a room where an airman basic from KY was sitting at a table trying to light a cigarette. He was shaking so bad it took a few tries to get it lit. I was told he had a breakdown and needed someone to watch him for his own safety. Suicide watch. Yes sir. I sat with him him a couple of hours. All he did was keep mumbling “Just couldn’t take it” over and over. When the TI returned, I reported and he said I was relieved and ordered me back to my post at the door to the barracks. Weird but my takeaway was, not everyone can handle the constant scrutiny and intimidation. The only thing I had a problem with was the Chukka boots. The darned things were like walking on concrete. The first thing I did at tech school was get a pair of jump boots. Problem solved.👍

I leave this Monday instead of Tuesday because of the 4th of July. Is the start of BMT going to be different because of this? Also a bit confusing because I’m going to be in space force for signals intelligence analyst so would there be any difference in the whole BMT experience or not?
@AfterBurner553 жыл бұрын
It should be very similar to Air Force bmt, and there shouldn’t be too much of a difference with arriving on a holiday, might just be slower that day. But goodluck! Enjoy yourself now before you go and don’t stress it!

@lifeofliionel2 жыл бұрын
@@AfterBurner55 or is active duty different if you’re married?
@AfterBurner552 жыл бұрын
Everybody’s circumstances are different, but if fear is the only thing keeping you in your hometown I suggest you step out of your comfort zone, and you’ll thank yourself for going active after you’ve gone through the growth and independence it brings. I was the same way. At times I wished I never left, and now looking back this is exactly what I needed to get my life in order. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I still see my family when I can, I see my wife’s family, and I live with my wife and dogs. Couldn’t ask for more.
