I hope one day Blinxis accepts that his PTSD is valid. “I looked at screens”. You looked at bodies, dude. You marked targets to be turned into chop suey, dude. It’s okay to feel a little fucked up by that.
@murasakirin8998
@murasakirin8998 Жыл бұрын
Right?! He may not have been there physically, but he still had to watch people die, and still had to essentially mark people for death. Its really not easy, and you're spot on, his pain and ptsd is 110% valid.
@thesussypupper
@thesussypupper Жыл бұрын
You are trained to dehumanize people. its easier to shoot a target you'd see on a range than a person. "just another objective to complete" or "Think of it like a video game" its not a good approach by any means. PTSD is PTSD I agree. I really wish there were better support systems in place to help those affected. watching or even seeing the aftermath in person is a grim reminder of our actions. Screen or not.

You watched stuff that traumatise people as VFX. Your horrors weren't CGI. There's no respawn for them. Yeah sure some people saw worse, went through worse, sure. Doesn't mean your pain is invalid, it's not a competition on who's more fucked up. Their pain is valid, and it doesn't invalidate yours. Your pain is also very valid.

4:10 It strikes me that in many ways non-combat PTSD can be much harder and more complicated to deal with. There's too much day-to-day stability during a non-combatant's service to trigger any of the coping mechanisms that develop under the hardship and duress of combat deployment. There's much less cognitive compartmentalization between traumatic events and home life. The trauma seems to permeate more deeply into an individual's psyche.
@minirambler4042

At least a combatant can have the ‘it was them or me’ mentality. A non-combatant so far from the front, unfortunately, doesn’t get that luxury.

5:10 too real. VRChat makes it way to easy to just spill the beans but it's also really fun and relaxing. I've found myself saying stuff I would never let my therapist or family members know about, which probably isn't the best thing but VRChat has helped me to have more than a few epiphanies. Being so detached from reality as VR is it almost feels like a dream sometimes which just puts my mind in this weird state where all the walls just come down. I've never been so immersed in VR that I've punched a wall though lol.

YOU witnessed action live, your experience of this that are a DIRECT reflection of what actions YOU YOURSELF took in the moment, and those decisions DIRECTLY affected the lives of many people for good and bad. Just because you weren't there in person doesn't make what YOU saw any less impacting than any other door kicker out there bro. OWN IT, TAKE CONTROL OF THE SITUATION. Combat is ugly, and war is something thats not glorious like the movies. Seeing it for yourself changes you and your outlook on life PERNAMENTLY.

Its very interesting how the internet can be applicable to mental support. I mean, to be fair, it is an alternate reality, so its the best way for people to dissociate from themselves completely. I mean when you think about it, you usually change as a person online because your reality changed, you are no longer in the same spot. And spot can mean many different things, mentally, physically, emotionally, the things you're thinking about, the things you're feeling. Now that I'm typing this out, I'm gonna think about this for awhile.

As someone with PTSD. Group therapy absolutely changed my life and it is what I solely contribute to me becoming sober. It REALLY saddens me to hear so many people on this channel say they don't care for group therapy, or don't want it. It has changed my life. Hearing other people speak (even when drastically different) and share similar feelings when you thought you were alone is life changing. Trauams you thought were rare or horrid somehow seem less daunting in your everyday life. It wont feel good, but seek if out if you seek relief from your ptsd. I would've never got sober without it and getting sober was one of the hardest things i've done. Not some AA bs group, but one for people relatively similar to you. Therapy doesn't feel good. It's not supposed to. YOU are there to work (on yourself). Working-out doesn't feel good, so it won't doing it for your brain. It's like math but without the dopamine hit when you get a question right.

His PTSD isnt valid because he looks at screens? Airman, ive watched people die point blank. Shit sucks. You went to some grim places and did some grim shit. Shit happens. You dont need a soldier's go ahead to value a human life, nor a policeman's or a rentacop's. Just the paths ive walked in my life. Youve done nothing wrong, and ultimately put some bad people in the ground. Take care of yourself.

PTSD is something that you have to be wearing boots or kicking doors to get. What PTSD really is a traumatic deconstruction of you innocence. It happens when you get betrayed, or catch a glimpse of true evil/horror. In my case, I caught a severe case of CPTSD in my own home when the person I was in love with almost managed to commit suicide in bed next to me. I jept her alive, but it was a near run thing, and fucked me up loooong afterwards, I'm talking serious panic attacks for years afterwards. I was never in any actual physical danger myself, but that doesn't matter when you suddenly fond yoursealf on stage where the Devil dances, and everything is all fucking qrong and all you can do is try to salave as much of the situation as you can. Doesn't matter that you watched your battlefield it through a magic mirror, you're a combat hardened warrior who had to avenge the deaths of innocents. You had to play litteral Valkyre and choose the slain. You can't be a human and do that without taking psychological wounds.
