A MFF jump does not matter the height but at what altitude the chute is opened. Under 6k and it’s a HALO above 6k and it’s a HAHO. There is a HAMO but that’s not used very much and it really is just used for the ATAK program. So yes this was more than likely a HALO, pins clear by 4500’ AGL.

You have to trust your equipment and training. I used to be in the 82nd, and let's just say I had "anxiety" before every jump. The landings in division weren't like in Airborne School. Instead of having a landing that was the 5 points of performance of a PLF, most times, it was feet, ass, and head. Anyway, now I have knee and lower back pain, and I blame those jumps. Sure, some people had partial and full parachute failures, and some of them either got really messed up, or killed by the too fast landings (insert macabre humor here), but what's not often considered is the after career ailments that go along with the jumping. This isn't me, but I know of people who had a 3 inch medical record from 20 years of jumping. Also, people will actually lose an inch of height after 20 years of jumping, due to their spines being compressed over time from the impacts that go along with static line jumps. Just saying, but what do I know?

Collision avoidance in freefall and under canopy. You typically don't want other jumpers flying toward you unless it's a planned formation skydive. As the other commenter posted: Green on the back of helmet shows jumper is moving away. Red means the jumper could collide with you.

The yellow cord automatically opens the chute as they jump out. that is why it is called a static line jump. A free fall is when they jump out and pull the cord when they reach a certain altitude. Static line is how airborne troops do their jumps. Only special operation troops (SF and SEALS mostly but some Rangers and PJs) are trained in Free fall jumping.

I kind of think they were basically knocking out there night AJ duties. Some do this after JM complete, but I dint know AF rules. What I found odd is the guy pulling safety duties was using a free-fall rig instead of an AEBP chute. You can jump a free fall at 1250, but that's a safety issue. Again dont know AF rules (if these guys are AF)

What is the purpose of yellow cable which is connect to wire and to a person
@magicmandj
@magicmandj 4 жыл бұрын
That is the static line. Static line jumps are how most airborne troops do their jumps. They all line up and go out the door or out the back and that yellow line is attached to a cable in the plane and automatically opens their chute. that way, they all land about the same time and relatively close to each other. A free fall jump is from a higher altitude and the jumper free falls for several seconds (sometimes 2 or 3 minutes) before opening their chute. Free fall jumps are performed only by special operations forces (SF, and SEALs mostly, but some Rangers and AF PJs too).

The A/C is only doing about 130 knots which is approx: 150 mph. You can hang out of the A/C with no problems at all. The average speed of a commercial plane is usually above 550 mph
@Elmo9061butIlostmyhandle
@Elmo9061butIlostmyhandle 3 жыл бұрын
Both of the above answers are incorrect. Nothing gets "sucked" out of the airplane because it's depressurized before we open any doors. So aside from being a little windy in the door area and louder, it's not much of an event.

We always had a blast doing them, because our training area was so damn far out...we would jump in a week eary to set everything up and just stayed out in the desert till the exercise ended. I had several good friend with Boarder Patrol. We were able to use BP agents as OPFOR, to take advantage of their tracking skills. They were able to teach the pilots all the tricks that illegals used...that actually made it hard for them to track sign or completly loose them. Gave pilots a run for their money. Plus they would drive in a bring tons of food for us to have freaking cook outs at night after the pilots got picked up.
