I've tried this recipe twice and both times when I tasted them they had a sweet flavor., which I didn't care for.

When I sent my son out to pick up the crescent rolls he came back with 3 flavors. You might have picked up the wrong one.

Don't go for low grade! Use real cheese and primium hot dog brands.
