This pair brought me back to buying shoes. I saw a guy walking by my parents’ house with these and I was taken aback by the audacity of them. And they had the Nike Air on the back. That did it for me. I bought a new pair below retail and have enjoyed them ever since.

These are my favourite Js, got them a month ago, best colourway in my opinion and the tongue just works perfectly with the right amount of purple to break up the dominant black…I wouldn’t change anything on this shoe at all

I’m floating between these the 12 low easters and the 13 Chinese New Years but I’m almost positive these are gonna be my next pick ups. This is one of the three Jordan 5s I own. I call it my wild card shoe, somewhat out there and eclectic but very cool. My fave is the Oregon colorway editions because I am an oregon alumn and that apple green is fire.

Great review as always! I feel like there's just a middle ground here that they had to settle with in terms of representing colorways vs. making something they felt was clean. I personally don't think adding white anywhere on the upper would've looked good, but I agree that it would've been given the Grapes more love. I'm cool on these personally. Looking at them just makes me want another Black Metallic retro with the 3M Fire Red shape.

It doesn't make sense to me why they won't throw a phylon midsole or zoom stroble on a colorway like this! You're already jacking up the price and straying far enough away from the original idea of the shoe that you might as well make them comfortable. I don't think any collector is buying these to keep deadstock. Leave the polyurethane for the OG colorways but make the new stuff more wearable if you want it to sell!

I remember reading somewhere that the prices for all Jordan products (at least the retros) were inflated to stifle resale markets. Super desirable colour ways or limited releases would drop and people would cop a bunch of pairs with the intention of reselling them and jack up prices. If the prices were already high, in a sense, at least Jordan brand would be the one to profit.

Definitely white laces. I agree they should have incorporated the "Grape 5s" into the shoe better. They could have released them without any inclusion of the Grape color way and i would have bought them. I feel like the tongue ruins the shoe for me. Maybe if they sit or i can catch my size at an outlet at a marked down price. Not for the full MSRP.

The 5’s are the greatest shoe ever made. I was fortunate enough that 2 guys on my team had them, Lee had the white Gus had the black back in the summer of 1990/91 and have been infatuated since. Sure some of the new colourways are less appealing but they’re still 5’s. What is your absolute favourite edition?

I love the Top 3's. Got a fresh pair still wrapped in that black plastic in the box. My girl won't let me have them until my b-day on June 20th. That's ok because it gives me time to find the perfect matching outfit. I bought 2 shirts that are matched perfectly to my Top 3s. I really need to get my channel up and running. I show ya how to match your clothes down to the socks for any retro Jordan. Amazon is not the spot to get matching clothes. By matching I mean every color down to the smallest detail. got em last week, metallic grape works well with a lakers or hundreds snap. nike air embroid is stand out and the fit is fantastic. personally i prefer the mint blue version but im not paying that much lol. this shoe works well with fits though, grey, black, red.. multi flex
