Yeah, that banana shaped mudguard kept me away as well. Bugged the hell out of me. Definitely a disservice to the original design. Shape should be of utmost importance with 12s more than any other model.

Do a video on 06 burgundy 5s vs the new ones. I didn’t have the money back then to get them, getting those was like having off whites or something now. I was so disappointed in the retro smh totally different color and feel of the so called saude

Everytime I hear someone refer to them as cherry, it sounds cringey and tells me this person follows the crowd and has no clue on what they are talking about. And whoever is the marketing agent(s) at nike/Jordan brand, they are a bunch of idiots for giving them that nickname. Nicknames is either on the shoe box label, design/history. Cherry fits neither. They are trying to play off the Concord 11 and Grape 5 nicknames, problem is: they are on the shoe box label. 2023 is better overrall than the 2009, few of things that the 2009 had over the 2023 is how the red lizard embossed print (sun disc) doesn't go over the toe box as much. Jordan on the heel is closer in gray to the OG, and the size and overrall thickness of the pull tab OG and 2009 are similar. The translucent sole is too dark on the 2023, noticeable on the heel where it's supposed to be a jolly rancher type of red behind the white 23 on the heel. There is a contrast of reds between the red lizard embossed print, jumpman tab, and the sole. That's my biggest nit pick on the 2023. The shoe box is huge on mine. Jumpman eyelets look much better than the tacky bling bling on the 2009. Still room for improvement, Shape could be a little better: the red lizard embossed print (sun disc) could taper off slightly and not too much over the toe box. The first eyelet could go a little further down on the toe box. The eyelets should be closer together. The laces should be thicker... Still the 2023 is a great retro. That's why I doubled up. I like the shape of the red mud guards on the lateral and medial side, the puffiness of the ribbing of the stitching on the white leather when looking at them from the back view. Red is closer to the OG on the lizard print. White leather is plush. EVEN leather used on the tongue. Way better than the 2022 playoff 12. The only thing the playoff 12 2022 had over these was the finish of the Jumpman eyelets on them. I normally call them white/red 12. Tinker was matching the bulls colorway with Hinomaru, the Japanese flag. The design theme of the 12... You can tell by the color blocking. The nickname I refer to them as: Japan 12. I think of their flag when I see this colorway. My favorite 12. The red jersey, black with the red pin stripes, or even the plain black jersey looks great with them. Surprisinly the white jersey doesn't look too bad with them. Sorry for the long rant.

Just makes you wonder. I refuse to call them cherry. They are desperately trying to defend that dumb nickname. As far as I'm concerned it's either white/red 12 or Japan 12.
