Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer today. We're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Air Lift LoadLifter, 7,500 air helper springs on our 2014 Ford F250. Now features are one thing, but how the truck is actually going to perform once you have the airbags installed is another. So before I put the airbags on, I put some weight in the truck and drove it around to feel it out. Now that I have the airbags on, I threw the same weight in there and I'm really curious to see how it's going to improve. So why don't we hop in the truck, run through the test scores and see how it does So the first thing that we're going to do is straighten out a little bit here and we're going to go over some bumps to see how our suspension feels.Let me get going here, hit our first couple of bumps and actually right away, I'm pretty impressed believe it or not, these airbags make the suspension feel like it's much more forgiving.
It feels like it's a little more responsive and it doesn't feel like we're going to bottom out or anything like that. It honestly feels like an airbags back there. You can feel it absorbing that weight and absorbing that shock and makes it a little more comfortable inside of here. We're not getting thrown around as much and we can focus on driving and not trying to fight the road and keep our truck straight. Now, what we can do, is do some evasive maneuvering through our slalom course.
Now, when I did this the first time without airbags and that same weight in the bed, you could really feel that weight throwing us around and you had to fight the steering wheel a little bit more to get pointed back to where you want to go. So with that being said, I'm trying to pick up a little bit of speed here and do the same thing.I have tried to do this the first couple times. I can tell a difference actually, even at lower speeds like I had the first time, this is much better. I feel like I could even go faster if I wanted to. I can hardly feel that weight at all back there.
It feels like the bed is empty. So major improvement that's for sure and I'd say this is probably where the airbags are going to shine the most and this is probably the most realistic driving conditions. At times where you already go around them corners, you can feel that weight slinging around, with these air bags on it really solves that issue. Now, one thing I do recommend picking up in conjunction with the airbags is a compressor system. It makes your adjustments super easy and you can do it on the fly to keep your truck nice and level, but at the end of the day, I was really surprised on how well the airbags actually helped with such a heavy duty truck.Made our ride much more comfortable, our suspension more forgiving and overall just a huge improvement.
So now that we took our truck on the test course, let's get underneath it and have a look at the airbags themselves. So this is what they're going to look like once you have them installed. Now these are going to take place of the factory jounce bumper. Now the jounce bumper really don't provide any support. This is more or less there to prevent our truck from bottoming out and that's really all it's going to do and that's not the case with the airbag. The airbag is going to give us that continuous support that we need whenever we have a heavy load and because of that, it's going to make our ride inside the truck much more comfortable, safe and predictable. So after dealing with these bags for some time, you can tell that they're really well-made and should last a long time and they're made right here in the USA, which is always nice. These are going to be compatible with most fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer hitches. Today, we have a BMW gooseneck trailer hitch on our truck and they work just fine with it and since these are the XL versions, they're going to be a little bit beefier than the ones below it. So we're going to have a little more load carrying capacity. These are going to have a 7,500 pound load carrying capacity. Now keep in mind, that isn't going to add to the overall capacity that your truck can carry, it's just going to work in conjunction with it. So if you're unsure that number, you can check your truck's owner's manual to figure that information out. Now, as far as the installation goes, I'm not going to lie. It is a little involved. It does take a little bit of time. I will say, once you get one side on, the other side goes a lot smoother and should save you some time there, but you are able to get it done. You just have to be a little patient and keep at it. Speaking
