Air Rifle Hunting, Decoying Jackdaws On The Stubble

I held this one back from earlier in the year for today so a Merry Christmas everyone.
Although i was trying to decoy wood pigeons this turned out to be the best day i have ever had decoying jackdaws to an air rifle.

Well it's been a while since I checked in with your videos, I used to live in California and pested, and hunted as much as I could, whenever I could as it was mu favorite hobby! But had to come to Spain to take care of my parents, as they are at that age... Terrible thing here is that in Spain this is not permitted :( With a very heavy heart I had to give up all my precious airgun equipment, which was a drama for me! Watching your fantastic videos reminds me of great times, glad you're still on with the game!:-)

Hi David, I keep a packet of Barbeque sticks in my bag to prop the birds heads up, I buy 100 12 inch ones for £1 from the bargain shop, they’re strong, sharpened at both ends and they blend into the stubble with no shine like you can get from pieces of wire, Give them a try👍🏼.

Great vid and a great bag, why not use a .177 I understand why people use a .22 generally it’s for the stopping power but as the shots weren’t being stopped I just can’t see why you wouldn’t go .177 and aim more precisely? Phil Hardman never has (or very rarely) has a runner but probably 9 out your bag did. Have you ever tried .177? As I said great bag.

In northern Ireland all air weapons are licenced. Therefore why wouldn't you go for fac levels >12ftlbs and .22 calibre?

I usually did zoom in for the shot but the birds were so quick to land and take off again i had to shoot them as quick as i could while the opportunity was still there. But now i'm using a Tactacam 5.0 scope cam i don't have to worry about zooming in.

Don’t the birds care about you when you’re putting out the decoys ?. I’m trying to hunt some magpies here in Sweden from a little hunting cabin i made but the birds just sitting in the tree behind cabin and won’t fly down to food , any ideas what I can do for some success ? Greetings from Sweden.

I find out when they arrive, and set up about 30mins beforehand, throw out food waste in a pile 30m out, then wait it out. Sceptical to fetching them after kills, but he does get quite a few more decoying! I have killed 17 magpies, without fetching kills, but it takes time! Either good camo clothes and extremely slow movements, or a dark camo hide from being spotted from above!

A cple eggs and burst one let them have one or 2 eggs after that you'll get them no problem. Good thing with using eggs you can use it to check your scope 😜🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🦄🎣😁✌️

I noticed yesterday on the other hand, that if I wing one of them(still died after unknown time) they didnt come back that day, got to meditate in my hide instead 😂
