Jason Greenwood 🙏thanks buddy 😊. The ride is fantastic buddy. Really really good. Reason being is you can choose how the drive is at the touch of a button. If you have your ride hight set slammed it’s a feel the road and you’ll get thrown about in the van just like a coil over but if you ride about where I show mine in the video it’s superb. Then I just hit the preset low button when I want the lows as I’m arriving or showing off. Plus I can get onto or into anywhere pretty much. It’s worth the money to me for these reasons 👌

Hey mate, curious about the height of your van when it is aired all the way up. How does that compare to stock height? Is it higher or lower than stock or the same? And also how do the airbags go with alot of weight in the back? Does it handle it well? Comfortable ride etc? Thanks 👍

When system is aired all the way up you can reach the original stock height, might even be a little bit higher in fact but it’s great for getting over trouble on the roads instead of turning back. When it’s aired all the way up the ride is not good. It’s way to firm for cruising as theirs huge pressure in the bags. On the flip side if you have a lot of stuff in the back and want to run medium drive height then it comes into its own👌. It can take a load of extra weight and drives really well at medium ride heights 👍

Hi Russ, Yes I told them, I'm with Aplan and it added the system into the spec but I don't think paying much extra for it. just means in a pay out the value of the system will be covered.👍

Im quite happy to travel for peace of mind that Ar have all ready done it. im running 20's with 275 tyres, so issue there, van is a fully converted T30 camper conversion. Adam has photos now of van, so will see where we go. I see your van is an 18 plate, so i take it that van is still inside of VW warranty (any issues).

Thanks Steve! I haven’t had any issues with tyre wear as I had the wheels 4 wheel aligned to my daily ride height. This has meant I’ve not added the bushes but it was something I was considering doing at some point.

Well worth it once your done but it takes 3 times longer to wash the van now 🤣. Not that I would let that put you off dude. I didn’t make a video as their are so many on here and I wanted to completely remove my callipers to not get the paint on The pad guides. Not everybody would agree with my methods as it’s a bit over the top but I’ve had pads sticking on a car where somebody painted the whole thing 🤦🏼‍♂️. I have herd that some of the aftermarket ones are very good👍. I do recommend OEM parts for something of this Caliber but I did see Transporter HQ installing one in one of theirs and the quality did look very good👍

Hey Paul, there is a setting that you can have on in the menu which will auto level the axel when driving but even when off there is still a little bit of balancing going behind the scenes in the preset modes. Only in manual mode can you unbalance the heights👍

🙏 thanks Peter, yes you can! It’s really easy to decide on 3 preset heights that you want to store for ease or you can litterally adjust it on the fly. And yes you can drive with the bags fully inflated but it would be very firm if driven at any length you can set them to be more or less the stock ride height and that drives fine. However at this height the bags do have a little left to go for getting into hard to reach spot👍

I must admit, for mot I have refitted the davenports for simplicity but I have informed my insurance that I run this lower rated tyre, so with that I’m not sure how well an mot would go as it should be picked up. The 102’s are almost enough but not quite.

@@alexanderson5456 the tyres on mine at present for summer use are just Runway performance 926’s which are 255/35/20 and rates lower than the even more budget tyres that were supplied with the wheels. Although these are still classed as a budget tyre they are WAY better than the skyfire SK822’a that come with the wheels. That ironically are rated higher than the runways… (that’s never right😂)

Hi Steve, It's been intersting watching the mods on this van and all the challenges you have overcome, looks great by the way! I also have a T32 T6 and it's booked in next month for the Air Ride upgrade, but I'm having a dilemma over the tyres, as the company fitting the suspension have asked me to reduce the wheel diameter by using 275 35 20 tyres ( I have 275 40 20's on at the moment) I was planning to fit new wheels anyway (the Navis ones you fitted), but as It's a T32 I am concerned about putting 102 rated tyres on (should have 103 but they are not available as a 35 profile) mainly due to the the risk of failing an MOT, have you had this issue? Thanks for any advise in advance Carl

I’m after air ride on my campa converted t5 and I want to go travel around the country would you say it would be okay and safe or would it better with coil overs for that my worry is with the kid I don’t want to pop a bag or anything and be stranded on the side of the road

I was in the exact same thought but I have to say I’m 13 months on and had 100% reliability in all weather conditions👌. Also I’m 150% better on comfort for our roads when I drive at a medium ride height. Medium ride height gives me around a 80mm drop on factory but still leaves about 50mm more to air out so it drives really well at this👌. I am in favour 🙌

Did you modify the front inner arch to get that low bud, you know the little screw at the top which is most likely to catch when running low low 😎. Great videos!

No I’m aired out and due to running this tyre and wheel offset I’m not putting that screw into the tyre it’s almost touching though! Any further mods to get the front lower would cause me a problem with this but many people do mod the wing mount bracket, the screw gets grinded back sub frame notch and more!! All I did was ground back the tab on the wing that connects the inner arch to the wing as running wider tyres than most 🤙👍

I recently joined the T6 forum actually as I wondered if the forum may appreciate any of the footage I make?? Ref the insurance, I called and checked again today, the good news is that as I thought, I am with A-Plan-Thatcham and have all of my modifications declared. Their policy is as long as the tyres are safe and rated high enough to carry the weight of the van and its contents then they are happy. 👍 I will add!!! A message to EVERYBODY!! This does not mean that your insurer may provide the same cover!!! rather than take my words for this you MUST check with your own insurer if you are running lower rated tyres... Thank you to Simon for raising the issue as I am happier now its been checked :-)👍

Great video Steve, as always 😊. How did you mount the controller in the air vent slot. Did you block the existing vent and buy a specific mounting kit and If so which one and where from as it looks mint?

🙏thanks buddy ☺️. I mounted the controller in the vent by removing the slats and then blocking the vent to divert the air, then I bonded a couple of packers into the vent where the controller needs to sit and then hot glued the controller to the packers so that if I ever changed my mind I could separate them without to much grief 😆. They do make a specific mounting card that you can buy and cut out to suit what your doing but that’s £50 and I was going to cut almost ALL of the kit away. Plush sell them from airlift 👍

I guess there are allot of different factors on what you can have as a basic Airride and how far you can go with it all but the system for my T32 LWB has come in at £5.5k fitted for the Airride. Steve Field Hi Steve, yeah I watched the 1st video and was really impressed, really felt for you when you realised that the wheels you already had would not work with your setup, again it was good to see and take note of the fact that you have to think ahead to allow the end result to work, something if I’m honest I wouldn’t have thought of too, I would love Air on my van but the reliability does concern me, I am a qualified mechanic/auto electrician by trade so the maintenance doesn’t worry me, just the idea of being stuck in Europe with a faulty solenoid/pump/actuator or bag etc. The look and use ability is exactly what I want, just don’t want to be stranded somewhere

Thanks again... it was a moment when I found out lol... I know what you mean completely. the reliability concerns were as high for me for exactly the same reason. We want to be able to do long road trips with the family hence buying mine new, I had a lot of my reservations answered but not all. If multiple failures occur its game over. some things can be solved. I.E if compressor goes down I have a back up. if tank loses air I have added a refill valve so it can be pressurised manually. proof will be in the pudding though. only time will tell :-)

Alright Steve hope is is good pal. Another question for you as you've had a good year and a bit experience now with air. I picked mine up from having air installed yesterday. I went for the Accu Air E Level+ with height sensors. I have 18" banded steels at the moment and just ordered a set of 19" banded steels. I'm happy I'll have to adjust the preset 1, 2, and 3. But what about the air out side? As my mind sees it, the van would land on top of the tyres as its got bigger wheels. How does that work? Do you have to adjust the air out side as well?

Hi James, All is good thanks 🙌, Congrats on moving over to Air. Over a year later I can say I am really pleased I went with it as it drives really well and lets me go pretty much anywhere. I am not familiar with the Accu Air full functionality, but I do believe it is pretty much the same. With the larger wheels going on, you would normally compensate the extra rim size by coming back down on the profile with the tyre that way it doesn't cause any issues on airing out or full turning lock.? if that makes sense.?

@@christianhowe8842 Hi Christian, yes I have checked and I am running 38PSI on these wheels and tyres. and ref the compressors yes its a dual comp but just a single 4 gallon tank. The 2 x comps give a better tank fill time and the 3/8 lines allow faster airring up and down on the bags.

Yes, you can still tow 👌. When I raised the same question I was told lorries use airbags as they can carry a tremendous weight. I do know that the system on mine is designed to carry the full weight limit of the van 👍

Thanks for that. Currently own a caddy. Upgrading soon to a T6. Can I ask you another few questions ( sorry for the trouble) what was your MPG Ed you get on the 150 hp engine pre remap from revo ? What is your MPG post remap ? I do loads of miles in my caddy and I love it . 520 miles to a 65ltr tank full. But I need a bigger van for some overnights on the road. I’m also interested to know you opinion on the DSG box. I’m in 2 minds about manual or DSG. THANK YOU 🙏👍🏻🙂

No problem happy to help where I know the answers! Firstly, with the DSG box, in really pleased! It’s excellent the ONLY thing that does not work around the DSG is the automatic stop start. That’s a mess around a DSG as it uses the brake pedal to judge cut outs. Seems to be fine on a manual though. Regarding the mpg I’m not the best person to ask😬. This van is the most economical vehicle I think I’ve ever owned so I feel good about the fuel and can’t say it’s enough for me to notice if there has been an improvement or reduction since the remap.

@@SteveField thanks Steve , I’ve subscribed to the channel and I’m binge watching all the mods. It’s not a cheep love affair, but they are great vans. Some of the lights mods are great. I’ve done carpet lining and insulation to my own van. It’s time consuming but massive improvement on panel boom at temperature in the van. When it comes to wheels , I’m old school. It’s deep dish and big offset with some tread sticking out. It’s all personal choice I guess. Thanks for the info. When are the vw door puddle lights going in. The van be sourced and fitted from a VW Tiguan. Start researching it and use part finder for used parts. It’s a simple recode on vagcom to program it in with the courtesy lights 👍🏻

Hi been watch your videos for a while and love the mods you have done to your van and but and it's a big but with those wheels you have just invalidated your insurance the wheels have to be load rated for the axles even if you never are going carry the max weight😥

With the Vossen wheels I have set things up to ensure the loading that I’m running including camping equipment is matched but more importantly I have discussed the mods and Weight ratios with my modified van insurer and now we have agreed a policy that takes this set up into consideration. In fact as the van sits now everything has been taken into the policy as there’s so many mods. I highly recommend A plan modified insurance 👍
