Air Traffic Control Tower Spotting @ Toronto Pearson Int'l May 14, 2017

Hello everyone! Welcome to this video! Today I took my passion to new heights as I was very fortunate today to go up in the NAV Canada Air Traffic Control Tower at Toronto Pearson Int'l to do some spotting outside in the ring. Before I got to do that, I was able to go up in the cab and view all of the controllers doing their thing. And that was amazing, such a quiet environment and the controllers are just there doing their thing, it was pretty cool. And then I headed out into the ring where I was joined by an Air Traffic Controller friend of mine and I spotted there for roughly 4 hours or so and he came and visited on breaks. It was an amazing experience for sure with some amazing views that cannot be beat! Thanks to him and NAV Canada for allowing me to go up there, I sure as hell will never forget this experience :) Enjoy the video!

Very cool. View of the city is amazing. Always wondered how far control tower could see. Can't get enough of the large aircraft 747, DC-10, A380 take off and landings. It's skill and technology at its finest. Can the general public get access by making some reservation for space? My bucket list is to fly a 747. I think I will be 6 feet under before that ever happens. Thanks for video.

Thanks a lot! It surely is an amazing view and the aircraft there make it look like you’re viewing a model airport from above. Unfortunately the only way the general public can get access is if they know someone up there, otherwise due to security there is no way it is possible. Good luck on the 747 adventure, I’ve yet to fly one soon so I hope it’s a reality one day.

My cousin is an air traffic controller in that tower been working there since the days of Wardair to Delta. Its a stressful job that's for sure. Hes going to retire the end of this year I think.......can't say I blame him. maybe you met him Carmine is his name. Cheers nice video

That is amazing! Yup, it is a stressful job but in the end you are prepared for anything that happens so some say there really is no stress in the end of it. @3:52 what's that new C shaped terminal over the roof (in background) of the cargo building? From Google SAT images it looks like some VIP terminal but pretty big.

It's called the Infield Terminal. Built in the early 2000's. It was used because half of Terminal 1 was shut down when they removed the old Terminal One and built the new massive one with the hammerhead. Now it only sees service when foreign delegates come or special charter flights, currently, a parking spot for aircraft who don't have gates yet. It is expected to go back into action when Terminal 1 capacity exceeds its limit.
