Have you ever been flying and made a request to change your route or altitude? ATC may have responded with "standby" or maybe just dead air. Why can't they grant your request? Why aren't they talking to you? This video explains it all!
"Sorry I was on the landline" ...it can be more accurate than you think!
PilotEdge provides live air traffic control for flight simulators. Practice your flying from home and master your radio skills. Visit www.pilotedge....

I always just assumed the controller was coordinating or dealing with other pilots I was unable to hear. Very interesting to see the internal workings; thanks for the insight!

@@pilotedgeATC I understand and agree. However, I think all these videos serve a marketing purpose as well. I believe the aesthetics of FS2020 will be better suited for that purpose.

So now the real question is, since PE ATC often cover multiple sectors at once, do they get numbers to then call and hold conversations with themselves and what kind of psychiatric care is provided for those who develop anger issues with themselves?

I remember reading a TBM incident that was similar but the pilot was trying to descend instead of climb. The TMB cabin became depressurized at altitude but the POC didn’t declare an emergency for some reason. The plane wasn’t cleared to descend in time and the TBM became a ghost ship until it ran out of fuel

So are we talking to real ATC controllers or “Pilotedge controllers?”
@pilotedgeATC
@pilotedgeATC 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on your certain instance. Regardless, we mimic the real experience and our controllers are all trained using real world standards, thus making it impossible to determine the difference.

There's one thing that I am unable to understand here. When you made the first call to Denver Center, you were at 8000 and in Sector 1 airspace, so are you not talking to the Sector 1 controller? From the ATC perspective, you show that Sector 2 calls up Sector 1 to get approval for the handoff. Shouldn't it be the other way round?
@pilotedgeATC
@pilotedgeATC 3 жыл бұрын
Handoffs must be accomplished prior to penetration into the next sector. Just because you’re talking to a controller doesn’t mean you’re in their airspace.
